We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Cade and we’ve shared our conversation below.

One of the most rewarding things about getting to know so many entrepreneurs and creatives is seeing first-hand how many of them are focused on so much more than just financial results. So many of the folks we connect with are focused on having a positive social impact on their community or the world at large. Can you talk to us about how you are helping the community?
I believe my music helps people connect to their own lives in ways where music is powerful, and subliminal. Music can affect someone’s mood in a positive way, and also help people think of life in a positive way. My songs have no hidden innuendos or subliminal messages, and are popular with fans as well as their families.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe that everything in music has to do with the song, the lyrics, the message behind the lyrics, the delivery and the performance. I strive to create meaningful lyrics that people can connect with, while always creating family-friendly modern country songs that tell a story. I love to explore the detail and small nuances in the musical arrangement and the lyrics of a song to create something unique. When I perform, I try and connect in a personal way with the audience to make their experience better. I am very proud of the success I have had in my career so far, and am continually releasing new music. I have opened for major headlining artists, played at large concerts and festivals, and have toured nationally. I am also very proud and excited of the work that comes from my life stories transcended into music. I started playing music over 20 years ago when I was in a band San Diego. I got to where I am today by never giving up on my belief that I can create something special that can connect people with my music. The music industry is extremely difficult and competitive, but I was able to overcome a number of challenges by staying persistent. I became extremely ill with meningitis, and after having a near-death experience I became even more determined to succeed in the music business. Faith, prayer and believing in God’s timing and strength to overcome those challenges is what always gets me through it all. The biggest lesson I have learned on my journey is to not squander your time-use each day to the fullest. I strive to make my brand and story not only about leaving a legacy of music that people can relate to, but to also give back to those less fortunate and do what I can to better humanity in a positive way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The greater San Diego area is rich with culture, history, nature and amazing people. I would definitely spend some quality time at the beach with my visiting friends. It is always a great way to relax and connect with the beauty of the coast. I would also take them on a drive up into the mountains for a different perspective, and to be in nature with the trees and beauty. Then we’d head down coast highway to see all of the beach communities and their individual uniqueness. We would have lunch at the iconic Rubio’s for incredible fish tacos, and dinner at Barrio Star 5th Avenue, Hillcrest. They have a great Latin/Asian fusion menu and the ambiance is wonderful. Seaport Village is a must stop for some shopping and live entertainment by some of the great San Diego talent, and then head over the bridge for a fun day on the iconic Coronado Island.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a huge shoutout to my wife Kellee who manages my career. She is the true epitome of a hero, a supermom, and the best friend anyone could dream of. Her unfailing support keeps me motivated and inspired as I navigate through the challenges of the music industry on our family’s journey together.
