We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Mari and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I used to be all about work and not about taking too many breaks, but as you get older you realize its fine to step back, relax for a little bit, regroup, and refresh so you can be more focused when you get back into the work flow.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Thinking about where I am now career wise, if I told my younger self where I would end up at age 30, he definitely wouldn’t believe me.
In my 20s, being an independent golf instructor in Central Florida and somehow survive financially is kind of an accomplishment within itself.
Entrepreneurship is not for the fate of heart, to get an offer to work at Topgolf doing basically the same thing I’ve been doing, but now having support has been a bigger blessing than I thought.
I don’t regret doing what I did to get by, but if I were to do it again, I would tell my younger self it’s totally okay to ask for help in some areas where you’re lacking, because you never know if you will ever get that help ever again.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in the theme park capital of the world, obviously Disney World and Universal would easily come to mind.
Ironically enough, Central Florida is also a huge foodie destination as we have so many different cultures here, so food options are a plenty, so it’s your pick your poison situation.
However, if it was my best friend visiting, they would know where I would be most of my days, a little Kava bar right next to where I work that I shall not name, because sometimes the best things in life are worth keeping close to you, a lot of memories and shenanigans in this place, it’s one of those you had to be there moments.
