We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Boyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think that risk is important for us to all take in life to a certain extent. It should feel good in our bodies when we think about taking any risk. Yes, it can be scary but all the best things in life are. Risk started playing more of a role in my life about 2 years ago when I decided to start a Life Coaching business. It was through this decision that I took the risk to sell my home, quit my job, and move across the country from Delaware to San Diego during a pandemic. Risk has also played a role in my life when I decided to go public about my Herpes diagnosis in order to help other people who are struggling with a diagnosis to shed the stigma that is attached to this diagnosis. I was so worried about what my friends, family, co-workers, strangers would think but something inside me knew that someone needed to hear my perception.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is a Life Coaching business. I specialize in helping people who have been diagnosed with Herpes shed the stigma and live a passionate life. In our sessions we use a blend of modalities to get to the root cause of the emotions that a Herpes diagnosis brings to surface. In this we discover that the stigma in society is what keeps people living in fear after they are diagnosed. It is our mission to provide a safe space for people to full express themselves and feel supported in doing so. What makes this business different from others is the space that is held for each client, there is no judgement with any situation that clients have and we work together so you can come home to your truth.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well to be honest, I haven’t gotten to do that many fun things since the timing of the move happened during 2020, but so far my favorite things to do are go down to La Jolla Cove to hang out with the seals and watch the sunrise/set. Head over to Soul Scape in Encinitas to get some new crystals. Duke’s in La Jolla has an amazing wedge salad. We would then call in some margaritas to go from Las Olas in Cardiff. I love hanging out by the Ocean and exploring all the nature trails!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out all of the people who have been a part of my journey so far. I am thankful for all of my coaches that I have worked with, especially Erin Nicole Porter.
