We had the good fortune of connecting with Precious Miller Melissa Holman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Precious Miller, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting our business was generated by a culmination of a few realizations. 1.) we wanted to have more control over our time and 2.) creating a stream of income for ourselves affords us the opportunity to build generational wealth. The most vital realization though, involves our desire to invest in human capital. We want to infuse the world with individuals and organizations who are empowered to bring their best in all they do. In our previous work with coaching students in higher education, we realized that Strengths-based coaching was a needed intercession for a wider audience. We had to extend this opportunity as far as we can reach. The problem we intend to solve is moving the world’s spotlight of what is wrong with people, and place a floodlight on what is right with them. We aim to inspire individuals and organizations to run along the road of authenticity. Creative solutions to the world’s problems are attracted to those who are brave enough to relish in their identity. Brood Performance is not your typical life coaching experience and this is by design. Our clients find an increase in their productivity, increase in job satisfaction and team cohesion. With the integration of CliftonStrengths into our coaching model, our clients are led to uncovering untapped potential to sprinkle their personal magic into all of their spheres of influence. In the cultivation of an individual’s and corporate talents, we have found our coaching sweet spot! Brood Performance is not just a business for us; it’s a passion. Seeing individuals operating in their strengths and aiming their strengths into the direction of their life aspirations is true fulfillment for us.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are definitely busy with executing all of our plans for the coming year! From developing eWorkbooks, establishing new partnerships, continued sessions with current clients, managing our social media, and marketing, our hands are full int he best way possible! Though we have lots of things in motion and in the works, we wouldn’t have it any other way. We handcraft all of our material because we pride ourselves on weaving our personality and creativity into all of our created content. Doing so also set’s us apart from any other coaching practices. We are sparkles, imagination, strategists, reflectors and truth serum, all in one business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely have to take my friend to Crow’s Nest, one of the best breakfast places in all of Kalamazoo, MI. Walking around Celery flats would be a great activity to do after. There are beautiful nature trails and is a perfect location to chat and catch-up with a friend. We would also have recommend a quick stop to Airway lanes. This is a one-stop fun spot with bumper cars, put-put golf, bowling, arcade games, and escape rooms. We could easily spend an entire day here. Studio grill is another restaurant conveniently located in downtown Kalamazoo and is the perfect place for a lunch break. They have the best stuffed burgers this side of heaven! A block away from this restaurant is a place called RocketFizz. This store is like walking back into the 90’s. Different gag gifts, various sodas of all kinds and the walls lined up with the best 90’s candy is every millennial’s dream. The best way to end the day would be with a visit to Skydeck, is a night club that sits atop one of the tallest buildings in the city. Enjoying music and great company is always a fun time.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would love to give a shout out to our family and friends- their support has encouraged us to push into the impossible and grow our business. We would also like to give a resounding thank you to the literature that have continued to aid our personal growth as we bring our best to our clientele. Those books being: The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level by Gay Hendricks, Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo, The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. Last but certainty not least, we would like to give a resounding thank you to our clients! All of whom have courageously invited vulnerability to each session and have chosen to bravely share their authenticity with the world.
