We had the good fortune of connecting with Kurt + Katie Duggleby and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kurt + Katie, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
One of the most important lessons I have learned is the importance of engaging in a community before that community is needed. Investing in other entrepreneurs, mentors, friends, clients, in order to build connection and friendship long before you need them for a deal, a sale, or in a crisis – makes the journey of life and leadership much more fulfilling.
Everyone needs safe people that can provide candor, challenge, and encouragement along the journey. Prioritizing those kinds of relationships early on ensures that when you have to push through a more difficult season, a change in structure or strategy, or scale to the next level that people will know that they can count on you, and you, in turn, can depend on them.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Restoration Church is a local church committed to Empowering All People to Love + Follow Jesus. We are passionate about serving our local community here in San Diego, and creating spaces of connection and meaning for people from all backgrounds and walks of life. We pride ourselves on authentically exploring faith together, asking tough questions, loving people well, and forgiving quickly. For fall too long, the church has been notorious because of what it is against, and we want to be known for people, for our city, and for you! We hope to continue to become a restorative community that makes San Diego a little more like Heaven.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Every good morning starts with coffee, so we would pay our friends at Mostra coffee a visit, before hitting a hiking trail in San Dieguito canyon or surfing at Del Mar. Then we could grab lunch and do a little shopping at One Paseo afterward. We love art, music, and supporting any local artists showcased at nearby venues. Our kids would certainly want to take you to the New Children’s Museum to make art and go on climbing adventures. Finally, we would make sure to gather at 10960 Via Frontera in San Diego, with our Restoration Church community on Sundays at 10.00a.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To the people of Restoration Church – thank you for being your faith, commitment, generosity, and perseverance through this last season. You are such an incredible community, bringing the empowering love of Jesus to our beautiful city!
