We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqueline Herrera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacqueline, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business has always been a dream of mine but I could never truly wrap my mind around doing it. My husband who is an entrepreneur really started to change my mindset seven years ago when we first started dating. I never knew exactly what I wanted to do or how I wanted to do it but I knew I wanted to be my own boss. I started assuming the costs and the work that would go behind it all and time and time again quit with any ideas I had, and went back to a typical 9-5. That was until I finally found my passion (skincare) and invested the time and money into really making my dreams a reality. Once I found my purpose, something I was so passionate about, the money, time and effort came second to this dream and vision I had.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is something I have wanted to start for many many years. I am the proudest of having a bachelor’s degree and paying to go back to school and go to state board and get my license. It required months and months of hard work and many hours being in a classroom. I am set apart from the competition because my business is in my home, making it a very intimate and personalized experience.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If my best friend was visiting the area I would take him/her to a series of different restaurants including, Trilogy, Nolita hall, Bali Hai, and Kindred. I would hang out in Coronado, bike around and have some quality time at the beach. I would introduce this person to all my closet friends and possibly have a spa day!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The two most important people/things in my life that led me to find my passion and follow it all the way through was the encouragement from my husband who is my best friend and an amazing support system. Secondly was taking the time to truly dive into self-help and following the words of my all-time favorite author, Louise Hay who helps you to release your worries and fears of the unknown and embrace what’s ahead instead. That allowed me to turn this experience into something positive and rewarding versus negative and scary.
