Giving gifts makes me happy, as it is the way that I like to show love. I find cooking food a gift, and I love sharing it with others. Seeing peoples reaction when being delivered a meal or eating it at a catering event and seeing their reaction to the food, is the best compliment or feedback that I could ever receive. Food truly brings people together, so if I can share that gift with people, and bring them together to socialize, bond and create memories, then I feel like I have succeed and am one happy girl. This question pose a great amount of complexity to me and cannot be defined by a single answer to what happiness represents for me. After living through this pandemic and experiencing a stay home order I have realized that my relationships with people are one of the things that does bring me happiness. What makes me happy? It may seem like a simple question but it has a loaded answer for me. Well the answer is, independence. I made the decision to become an independent contractor or more commonly known as a free lance hair stylist about 3 years ago and let me just tell you that was a life changer! I was almost instantly “Happier”. Quite simply I had regained my independence. Not only in work but in my home life. I only had to answer to myself or follow the schedule I set. Being fulfilled makes me happy. Everyday I do something I am passionate about and in my opinion loving what you do is the key to happiness. At the time most job offers for me wasn’t something I was passionate about and I ended up starting my own company. Because of that decision today I do something that I love and the sense of accomplishment and purpose in what I do brings so much happiness. Read more>>

What makes me happy? That’s a great question, especially now. In the first week of sheltering in place I was listening to too much news and feeling anxious and uneasy. It finally dawned on me that I needed to remember what made me feel happy, what gave me comfort. So I made a list. One of my favorite things to do is to draw and paint. So I drew and painted all the things that gave me comfort. I made a copy of the black and white outlines to post on my social media. I have been posting coloring book pages and activities each morning for anyone that might want something to do while they are at home. I also teach art through the Athenaeum. Read more>>

What makes me happy is pretty simple and straight forward, my family, friends, and getting to do what I love for work everyday. I have also learned through the years that a good deal of ones happiness depends on your outlook on life and how you view yourself. I have found that practicing a good self care routine of diet, exercise and time spent with people I value the most, helps keep me in a great positive mindset. I also know that by taking care of myself and keeping myself in a positive mindset allows me to do what I really love to do, which is help others! Read more>>
