We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Rebuck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, why did you pursue a creative career?
I had always been interested in the Science field and was good at it, but I kept getting drawn back to art. Growing up in a small town, wasn’t as much opportunity to pursue art, as teachers would push you towards more “typical” and generic career fields. It was an outlet that I enjoyed and found it to be relaxing. I was always surprised when approaching a new art project — it’s a challenge when starting from a blank slate. However when you see the end product, it’s truly mesmerizing to think, “hey I did that.”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Since graduating college — I’ve surprised myself at the work I’ve accomplished and connections I’ve made. Some of my biggest accomplishments have been: being a photographer at NYFW, covering social media on behalf of Secret Deodorant at the Women’s National Soccer Team in France, creating #5GsFor5G at T-Mobile, and helping design the Olay set at NYC’s BeautyCon. I’ve designed for over 100+ brands spanning several categories — including lifestyle, beauty, technology, and consumer.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
-Hirschorn Museum for the One with Eternity: Yayoi Kusama exhibit (Instagrammable art museum) -United States Botanical Garden for some zen

-L’Ardente (best “glam” Italian ever)

-National Arboretum (small hike with views and less touristy)

-View of DC in Rosslyn (best view of DC & happy hour drinks)
