We had the good fortune of connecting with Lydia Livingood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lydia, why did you pursue a creative career?
Such a simple yet difficult question… and I think the only way to answer it is; I had to. It’s my passion and my calling. “I decided to be an artist cuz it’ll make me a lot of money.” -Said no one ever. You don’t pursue art to be rich, though it might happen, you do it for the sake of expressing yourself, to create something meaningful.

I was 4 when I decided I wanted to be an actress. I used to set up a “stage” in the living room and make my brothers put on shows with me for our parents. At 17 I started acting in short films and theatre and did my first photo shoot. I’ve done original theatre in the KC Fringe Fest & Cleveland Public Theatre, Shakespeare in the Park, and have worked with many independent film-makers.

My modeling career began taking off in 2012 when I started walking the runway for local KC designers, and then set up more photo shoots with the photographers that I met at the fashion shows. I’ve been published online and in print magazines.

I believe modeling is an art form, so my favorite thing to shoot is high fashion or editorial because you can be really creative, and with a background in theatre, I love getting into character for a shoot and working together to make something beautiful!

Drawing has held my passion for as long as I could hold a pencil, so in 2018 I started my apparel brand because I wanted to do something meaningful with my art. It’s called Livin’Good Creations because I believe everyone has the power to create their own good life!

Inspired by nature and 90s Pop Art, my hand-drawn designs are full of color and each have their own unique story of growth and empowerment. What makes my art so special is that it illustrates my own journey to self love and creating the life and person I want to be.

My stickers are cute little reminders of life’s lessons and our connection to nature, the elements, and each other. Their stories resonate with anyone seeking a reminder of how powerful we ALL are. Livin’Good is about livin’ WILD.

And my newest creative venture, Boho Basic Witch. I make handcrafted jewelry and decor for the modern spiritualist that manifests what they want out of life. To me, being witchy means owning your magic.

I use resin, ink, and glitter to create beautiful lightweight pieces that shine and shimmer when they catch the light. I work in small batches and each piece is totally unique, just like you! Your clothing and jewelry are an extension of you and how you express yourself, so I love to create wearable art. It’s about how it makes you feel. Beautiful and confident.

As a creative, I have many different interests, and art allows me to explore and connect with other people. To do, make, or be anything I want. Creativity is how we keep our spirits alive. I hope to inspire a better way of living through my art. ✨️

Come hang with me on social, I’d love to connect!

Stay Wild,

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It hasn’t been easy, and some (many) days I want to quit, but I’ve learned that there is no end point; the journey is what it’s all about, so I will continue to learn and grow.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I LOVE San Diego, there’s so many cool spots to check out! We’d start with coffee each day at one of the many local coffee shops. One day we’ll walk around Balboa park and the Spanish Village Art Center. For lunch, we can go to the Public Market at Liberty Station with an array of food choices from the many stalls. We’ll also go to Barrio Logan to check out the cute little artist shops and some good food. We have a variety of beaches to choose from, so we’ll visit a new one every day, and we’ll definitely go on a hike or two. We’ll go to Hillcrest and North Park for some cool art and more local shopping. We’ll visit Seaport Village then grab happy hour drinks at a spot right on the water at the harbor downtown, and finish the night out in Little Italy.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my parents, family & friends for all the love and support of my art and creative pursuits.
