We had the good fortune of connecting with Marty Kain and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marty, what do you attribute your success to?
Being a good person and opening your heart to the people that support your business. Providing professional technical, tactical and mental skills advice is obviously very important as a Coaching Business, but I don’t believe this alone would have been enough to grow our business at the rate it has grown. I treat my players like I would treat my family & my best friend. Through this the business growth through the pandemic has been something I couldn’t have dreamed of, whilst at the same time building friendships that will last a long time. Communicate, love your clients & be genuine.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What set’s MK Cricket apart is most likely communication, transparency, genuine care for people & a wealth of knowledge in the Cricketing world. I am consistently remind myself “be a good person, more than anything else”. I do my best to impart this on players who come through the Academy. It certainly not easy – for the past 2 years I have juggled a full time job & starting a my coaching business. Trying to manage my body, wife, friends & family during this period was extremely difficult and near impossible. Fortunately my goals allowed me to continue to push. Now I am at the point where I am about to work full time on the Coaching Business which enables me to dedicate time to those things I mentioned. I want people to know, that there is a world of opportunity out there. Growing your business with no financial constraints was a very good option for me. So having the secure job made it easier and less stressful. It takes times & grind, but the rewards are so satisfying when you get there.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely plenty of surfing around the La Jolla Reefs – followed by some Mexican in Old Town at Freds. I’m a huge fan of Breakfast Republic – so would likely have breakfast in Ocean Beach & then wonder the streets and see the action from around that area which is always entertaining. Would have to fit in some hiking in east county – most likely “Three Sisters”, that’s a great Hike. Last but not least a around of Golf at Torrey Pines.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife & my parents. My wife: during the time of growing my coaching business I have also been working full time 8-5pm. I coach before/after work & in the weekends. Thankfully the business has performed so well I am going to be working on the business fulltime as of April 2021. My wife has supported me by providing meals, cleaning the house & providing support despite not getting much time with me during this period. My parents: raised me in a relaxed manner and allowed me to always chase my dreams. Throughout my life they have always supported me and never directed me. This has always given me the courage to do things that are not always the normal. They are also extremely hard working and organized which enabled me to implement these attributes throughout the growth of the business.
