We had the good fortune of connecting with Marisa Cali and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marisa, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
There is only this moment and this moment is perfect. As a business owner serving other professionals in an industry that is constantly updating, I’ve had to navigate the business world with flexibility and perseverance. In a moment of personal development, I came across this affirmation that has influenced my mindset as I approach tasks that are essential for business growth. Mindfulness is a practice that has provided a framework for adjusting to life as a business owner. This affirmation can push business owners outside of their comfort zone and it has proved to be a reminder to live in the present, approach entrepreneurship with tenacity, and keep on moving forward.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My background is in digital marketing, and I’ve run on my own since 2015 and pride myself on the processes I’ve implemented to make it simple for businesses. If we weren’t in a pandemic, I would likely visit quirky coffee shops, have a cup of black coffee, and snap a photo for my #HowDoYouLikeYourCoffeeTour Instagram project. After college, I boarded a plane and moved to Queens on a whim. While exploring my way through the corporate world and enjoying life as a New Yorker, I found my calling in digital marketing in 2007. I founded Live on Social Now Productions in 2020, I help businesses develop and maintain their professional online presence using live streaming. Why am I unique as a business owner?? I have a healthy work-life balance and value my time away from the online world. The balance provides the space for me to show up fully and enthusiastically for those who I serve. Outside of doing online live stream preparation, I love to travel, practice mindfulness, learn the Latin language, and listen to live music.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To show my best friend the best time ever, we would mix in a lot of what San Diego has to offer in terms of scenery, food, people and chill vibes. We would visit Coronado Beach with a small characuterie board picnic and snacks from Pappalecco. After listening to the waves crash onto the sand, we’d take a drive out East, stop at the small wineries along the highway, and make our way to Julian for dinner. We’d catch dinner just in time to see the sun set over the Pacific, then make our way to the small town of Wynola for a nightcap at The Cooler. After a campout at William Heise, we’d wake up to hike Iron Mountain before sunrise. We’d experience the views, take a windy drive back into town, grab coffee at House of Black in Poway. Our weekend would end in Barrio Logan with a little taco feast at Salud! Mixing all things San Diego into the best time ever!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to The 4 Agreements – the book kickstarted my journey towards personal growth and as a result professional growth.
