We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Soto Entrepeneur & Creative Director and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa Soto, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Being a positive example for them. Showing them that they can accomplish anything when they believe in themselves and put their heart, mind and hard work into it. They are growing up seeing that a business is not only for the purpose of making a living but also to contribute and make your voice heard in the world. I love having conversations with them about what product we will create next, getting them involved in our photoshoots and teaching them about how a business works.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? Growing up, I had the most magical childhood. My brand is rooted deeply in the memories – ones that bring me great joy – I have of my own room. My mom would let me paint furniture, paint walls, move around furniture, hang pictures on the wall and decorate how I wanted. That creative freedom sparked something, and the little girl that is still inside me wanted to help bring some of that magic into everyone’s homes. Because it all starts there!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Laguna Beach is one of my favorite spots to take friends and family. It has everything in one place – art galleries, great restaurants, local stores, beautiful coves and beaches, tide pools and a garden pathway with magical scenery. Downtown San Diego is one of my favorite spots, as well. I like that you have all the big city perks, like great music and food, and still have the casual beauty and relaxation of the beaches.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My amazing husband. Without his unconditional support I would’ve quit a long time ago! I feel very lucky to have found someone that believes in me like he does.
