We had the good fortune of connecting with Iva Velkovska and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Iva, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a culturally diverse lifelong learner, a former professional tennis player and an enduring philanthropist, I’ve always spired to create an impact and environments where other individuals/ children feel empowered. With a strong desire for helping people and the ability to lead individuals along the process of making a difference in the world is a huge passion of mine. So, I thought how could I get more people to do more great things? What if I create a platform that will be a one hub stop for all things philanthropy? From education to random acts of kindness, to finding out way you can help in your community or various places to volunteer? And that is how Generation Impact was born.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Generation Impact creates #MissionImpact and partners with organizations who need help. We have done many things, some of which are delivering care packages to affected, vulnerable and elderly individuals. We also do a double IMPACT by purchasing goods directly from small businesses as a part of the care packages that we deliver. Besides being on the front lines making an impact, Generation impact has hosted five events featuring speakers and performances with the intention to empower, inspire and share ways you can make an impact in the community. Generation Impact has ran together with challenged athletes, assisted visually impaired individuals at the Center For The Blind and helped elderly at Senior homes. We have baked cakes for low income and foster children, and our latest Mission Impact is our current “Fill a Stocking for a Child in Need” Drive where we are collecting gifts to fill those stockings that will go to an orphanage in Mexico. Our mission is to create a better world for generations to come so we are committed to making a difference and healing humanity. While we are aware that we may not be able to change the entire world, we do know that well intended actions will make a difference in people’s lives.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had my best friend visit me in town we would be spending a lot of time out in nature, whether it was hiking, surfing or having a picnic in the park, San Diego is the ultimate best place to do many things outdoors. We would also most likely set a time to workout, do yoga and jump off the cliffs at Sunset Cliffs. 🙂
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As an only fortunate child to two lovely parents, I am a proud native Macedonian who has followed my mother’s footprints into sports that has led me to be a former professional tennis player and then later accepting a tennis scholarship in the United States. I strive for and my passion is: optimal health, maximizing human potential, and being of service which has attributed me to being a natural leader and a committed optimist. I credit sports, my mother, my coaches and my mentors for my growth and intense and powerful drive to empower, inspire, and IMPACT. Lastly, I’m an avid reader and I consider my time with the books a sacred time. I find many of my mentors in those books. Some of my favorite ones are Autobiorgraphy of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, Principles by Ray Dailo and any of Muhammad Yunus books who is one of the biggest philanthropists on Earth and always finding ways to cure poverty and inequalities.
