We had the good fortune of connecting with Ian Bobolia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ian, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Having the freedom to work in an industry that I love and work with the people I want to work with had been a long time dream in the making. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and restoring cars allows me to be creative, work with amazing people, and make a perfect product that the client will hopefully be in love with.

What should our readers know about your business?
My company is a classic car rental and restoration company based here in San Diego. I didn’t really have any experiencing restoring cars when I first started, but I believed in my capability to learn new things and trust the learning process. I’m very proud of our mission to regularly donate to ocean charities. Classic cars, a clean ocean, and San Diego. That’s what we’re excited about. It never has been and never will be easy. But it’s what makes each tiny success, each smile on a customer’s face totally worth it. Some lessons I’ve learned have been to believe in your capability and to realize the harder things are to do, the more worth it they usually are. Just that we’re here to be a patron of the world and serve our community in the best way possible. I love what I do and I hope that can reflect on my work and my customer’s experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Surfing by Scripps Pier, Checking out Balboa Park, Cruising OB/Sunset Cliffs in an old VW van, snorkeling off La Jolla. Wine tasting in Little Italy, Breweries in OB/North Park, Game at Petco.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have many people to thank, but the two most important would be my parents, John and Linda. They have been putting up with everything that goes into starting a company, during the good times and the bad.
