We had the good fortune of connecting with Envy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Envy, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
Ideally we’d like to travel around and share our music with more and more people in different cities, states, maybe even countries. We want everyone to be able to come together and enjoy our music, and it definitely helps that we have a blast making it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?                     Our lineup is Riley Ponce as lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Julian Glisson as lead guitar and backing vocals, Luke Willenberg on bass, and Aidan Cotton on the drums.

It’s so hard to start from scratch. Only one of us, our guitarist Julian, was there for that beginning stage of the band, playing in living rooms for family birthday parties on a broken drum kit and a $20 amp. There were times where it felt like it was never going to go anywhere at all, times where giving up would’ve been so much easier and less stressful, but in the end the perseverance is starting to pay off. We played the Music Box, we played Petco Park, we’ve been hitting the studio, things we never thought could happen. One thing we’ve learned that helped us tremendously is that it’s near impossible to succeed completely alone, finding a community of bands that supports each other has helped us to really take off.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Maybe it’s just because we’re fresh off of a show there on November 7th, but the Music Box in downtown San Diego is such a fantastic venue to see live music, the atmosphere is so cool and the stage is great. They have all different kinds of live music there from rock to pop to jazz to rap, there’s something for everyone. Apart from that it’s honestly an open book, San Diego is such a cool place and almost no matter where you go you’ll have a good time as long as you’re with good people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
School of Rock Oceanside. That’s where we all met, that’s where we formed our love of making music, from there we started our band and used the things we learned to grow and develop as musicians and creators. We also wanna thank another band by the name of Summer Years, who have sort of taken us under their wing so to speak. Two of their members are our producer and engineer, they’ve helped us get shows, promote, record, and so much more. Lastly a more recent shoutout, our man Paul from @sdshowz on Instagram. He has been doing some really cool things for the community with promotion and putting on shows for bands in really cool venues.
