We had the good fortune of connecting with Erisa Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erisa, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Music has always been instilled in me from a very young age. My Father is a musician and music was always played in my house as a child. I learned how to play the piano and played for my church choir for many years. I was introduced to the clarinet which was very short lived and once I stopped playing I knew there was more that was in store for me musically, however, I wasn’t sure exactly what that was. My appreciation and love for the saxophone grew after attending a concert which featured a female saxophonist. From that moment I knew exactly what I wanted to play and I guess you can say the rest is history.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Smooth Jazz Saxophonist and I truly enjoy what I do. My career consist of entertaining people at birthday parties, live events, smooth jazz concerts, and corporate events. My accomplishments to date include playing for many prominent professionals in the smooth jazz field. I have played with smooth jazz greats such as Elan Trotman, Jazz in Pink, JJ Sansaverino, Judah Sealy, Nathan East, and Donald Hayes. While I have been granted the opportunity to play with such great talents I essentially have just begun my journey in the smooth jazz field. I recently released my first smooth jazz single entitled “Good Feelin.” My biggest accomplishment yet was putting this smooth jazz single out. I am overjoyed with this song and here is a little secret- there is more to come! My musical journey has been far from easy. In 2017 I was diagnosed with Lupus, and I was hospitalized in the ICU as I was severely ill. I am a true miracle and God truly blessed me to get out of that situation alive and in one piece. Thankfully, I do not take any medication which could be attributed to my vegan lifestyle. I have learned that in order to play music I have to be healthy and what I eat plays a major role in staying healthy. Music is my passion and I believe I was created to tap into the depths of the hearts of my listeners. Through music I will spread the love of God wherever I go.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in San Diego..America’s Finest City! My friend would have a great time in San Diego since there is so much to do! It’s definitely on my list to take my friend to Coronado Beach.. It doesn’t matter what time of year it is in San Diego, you can always enjoy the beach, as the weather is 70 degrees all year long. We would travel by the Ferry across the ocean to the other side and explore Downtown, San Diego. Downtown has a lot to offer from Petco Park where the San Diego Padres play, and several eateries; not to mention the famous House of Blues. We would definitely have to check out the USS Midway ship Museum which was the largest ship in the world until 1955. From there we would have to go eat vegan ice cream at Stella Jean’s which offers the best vegan ice cream ever! We would end the weekend at the largest Farmers Market in California which is the Hillcrest Farmers Market The farmers market offers a wide variety vendors to include the best vegan cheese ever Mylkdog! They serve thee best vegan nachos and the cheese of course is the best ingredient.
