We had the good fortune of connecting with Darrien & Ryan Seqqoÿa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darrien & Ryan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Trust. For us, it has been all about trusting the process and trusting that we are always exactly where we need to be.
Even when the goals aren’t reached as quickly as we hope or expect, not giving up and continuing to do the work has proven to be the successful approach.
We don’t do business like they teach in school: analyzing every cent and keeping track of every dollar. It’s all about the overall energy that gets it done.
We visualize where we want to be and the steps to get there, and then we execute. We don’t worry about the details. We simply trust.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At the root of everything we do, there is unconditional love. That is why we are successful, and that is why we continue to succeed. It is not and has never been about profits. It has always been about connection.
We started with YouTube, putting in 70hour weeks for a year straight, generating content with the focus of promoting positive energy and inspiring innovation for creatives. We received so much incredible feedback, it made it feel easy to keep going.
But, after the first year we realized we were burning ourselves out and took a break from releasing content.
Our time went into self care and having fun. Always in our mind’s eye, holding the vision and trusting that something major was still happening for us. Ryan dove head first into his music production while Darrien placed her energy on practicing her art of guiding meditations.
We left San Diego hoping for a fresh outlook and moved to LA, tapping into the creative pulse of the city and having faith we would find what we were looking for.
The seed was planted. We put out into the Universe that we wanted room to grow, and we let it go.
This blossomed into a dream opportunity being presented to us—the management of a 40-acre estate near Joshua Tree, hosting events and building community.
We thought this would be something 10-15 years in the future. Not only that, but it also perfectly aligned with our values—it’s not about the bottom line, it’s about cultivating positive community and helping people find their connection to Source.
So we started a new business and took another leap of faith. It’s been almost a year since we left for the desert, and the growth we’ve achieved since has been exponential. We’ve learned so much about business and leadership, while still staying focused and remembering the Love.
Full circle as we gear up to get back on YouTube and keep the motivation and positive energy continuing to flow!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay first things first we would place our order from Tropical Vegan Café. Chef Geannie has the best vegan eats in the city!
We are primarily plant-based so all of these amazing vegan eats will absolutely be on the list of to-dos: One World Beat Café, Spoiled Vegans Cafe, Ranchos Cocina, and Sips in North Park.
Ocean Beach People’s Organic Food Market for lunch before a cruise down the boardwalk.
Sunset Kava Lounge – open mic – intimate and supportive community
Definitely need to hit the Ocean Beach Farmer’s Market – it’s always a party both during and after for the drum circle!
Gotta have Luigi’s in Golden Hill for their fire vegan pizza by the slice, or Thai 55 for some authentic Thai boba tea, another Golden Hill favorite!
To end the night off we would go to Spin Nightclub to enjoy some disco and dancing!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We could never be where we are today without the incredible loving and uplifting support of Lisa & David Sawicki. They’ve believed in us from Day One before we ever had any glimpse of success and that belief become concrete when they connected us with one of the biggest opportunities of our lives.
