We had the good fortune of connecting with Lenna Arnesto and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lenna, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is the overwhelming support and love from the people around me. There was a lot of self doubt starting my business- I didn’t know if anyone would even make an order, or if anyone would actually like the things I make because I didn’t think it was good enough to sell. I was afraid that I’d be wasting my time and money because people weren’t even going to notice me. However, my friends and family gave me the push I needed. Whether their support came from commenting/liking my posts, sharing my page, or even ordering from me- I couldn’t have done anything without them. I may not be the most popular small business there is, but the encouragement and adoration that I feel from others cheering me on while I’m doing something I love is a success itself.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Growing up, arts and crafts was one of my absolute favorite activities to do. Being able to get creative and express myself through art was a breath of fresh air. As the years went on, I was exposed to so many DIY (do-it-yourself) projects on YouTube/Pinterest that expanded my knowledge and it inspired me to make a whole bunch of things for myself and for others. Personally, I love gifting items to people that I made myself or has a special personalization because it comes straight from the heart. Rather than picking something off the shelf of a store, I love putting in thought and time into a gift so that it means so much more. Being able to make custom items, such as air fresheners, photo stickers, shot glasses, etc. allows me to give others the opportunity to enjoy something made just for them and only them. A one of a kind experience that you can’t buy at Walmart or other big businesses.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Born and raised in Paradise Hills of San Diego, I’ve come to appreciate my city as it contains hidden gems all over the place. One destination that holds great memories for me and never gets old would be Belmont Park- a little beachfront amusement park! You truly get the best of both worlds with Mission Beach and a super mini Disneyland all at the same place. Being able to go on rides, shop around, eat good food, have a walk/swim on the beach, and light up a bonfire sounds like a fun filled day. Another area that quickly became one of my favorites to go to is Kate Sessions Park. This place makes the perfect picnic when you have good company and a beautiful view to admire, creating beautiful memories.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A very special thank you to all my friends and family for believing in me. To my mom, dad, brothers, and sisters in law- thanks for not hating me with my loud Cricut machine and me making the WiFi slow while I work on orders! To Allan and Michelle of Access Kustoms- thank you guys for being such great friends and nominating me for this wonderful opportunity. I wouldn’t be here without these people! All the love.
