We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelo David Russo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelo David, how does your business help the community?
I enjoy recording my creative process and sharing it with my followers. Every step is documented and posted for the world to see. This year videos have provided a source of entertainment for many as well as inspired others to try similar techniques. The type of artist I am is not based solely on the artwork I make, but by the way the community engages with it, and with me. As an artist, there is no greater satisfaction that discovering that your work is having a positive impact on your community.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My works is an ever-evolving journey of exploration through materials/techniques, as well as an artistic conceptualization of the psyche. My body of works branches out into various directions, as a means of maintaining balance between traditional, experimental and digital art. From a social perspective, what sets me apart is that I share my entire process with my audience. My followers see every step, every mistake, every experiment gone wrong and every pleasant surprise. Over an extended period they will also see my evolution as an artist, and how I integrate new techniques into my signature style. This year I learned a variety of acrylic pouring techniques and I am really excited to integrate these techniques into my signature style in early 2021.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I enjoy the outdoors, so I would probably start the day with a hike at Los Peñasquitos Canyon which is absolutely gorgeous. Later spend the afternoon at Ocean Beach, Then for dinner I would recommend the tacos at La Perla Cocina Mexicana, in my opinion a must if you like tacos!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family have been my biggest supporters right from the start, and I love them so much for it for not questioning art as a career. It is by far the most fulfilling thing I can do with my life. My followers on IG and Facebook are simply amazing. My inbox often gets flooded when I post some new works and the constant love I get from people from all corners of the world is something I am so grateful for.
