The Decision Makers Series: Inspiration

A big part of making decisions is determining what our actions and choices have been inspired by. So we asked decision makers from the community to tell us about what they are inspired by.
More than anything, my couples inspire me (which sounds cheesy but it’s 100% true). Every couple brings out something a little different in me – I love vibing with their energy and letting that direct the shoot. I love hearing their unique story and creating images that feel authentic to THEM, not what I want. Outside of my couples, I’m also super inspired by music videos! I’ve always loved watching them, and even more-so now has a photographer. The art direction is always so rad and intentional – and there are so many times when I watch music videos and am like “I want to create images that feel like THAT.” Then I’ll play those songs during my sessions if I feel a certain vibe would fit, and it helps me get into a more creative space! We have always been artists obsessed with form and color, classical, Pre-Raphaelite and Impressionist artists have a great impact on our vision and work. We have developed an almost hyper-realistic technique based on digital images, something very similar to what happened with painting and photography in the 19th century. We make paintings that look and shine like digital images without these two tools competing with each other, rather complementing each other. This answer has changed over time. But since I’ve dabbled into a few fields, I boiled down what my real passion is and what keeps me going. At the end of the day, I love working with others to tell a story. Its something I do im my personal life as well as professional.
