We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I initially began my journey as a YouTuber. I wanted to showcase some of my beauty and hair skills because when I would go out, I was constantly stopped and asked how did I do my makeup and hair. With that journey, I had to learn about camera equipment to be able to film and upload the best quality videos to my channel. Learning about photography and videography sparked a passion that I never knew I had. I ended up making a 180 degree turn and began focusing on scaling my new found love. I knew I could help people with photo and video in the same way I wanted to help with beauty skills and that is how my business was birthed.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love to refer to myself as a creative. My art is definitely capturing the essence of the moment and to make the memory come alive every time you refer back to a photo or video. I also refer to myself as a major researcher which is what contributed to where I am today. I never stop learning about my craft. I think there is always something to learn and reconnect with. This journey has been extremely difficult at times because it is never consistent and you have to always adjust your business with the current times but when I get feedback or praise from those that I capture about how they felt beautiful or these are memories they’ll cherish forever, that’s when I remember my “why”.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In San Diego, I absolutely love going to La Jolla Beach. To me, there’s a sense of peace and comfort when I’m there and it just so beautiful. You can walk along the pier and get churros (my favorite!) and hang out with the seals. I’m a simple girl so that’s the first place I would run to.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I absolutely want to recognize my family for be super supportive of my journey; my father specifically. Anytime I need encouragement, guidance, or just some sort of venting session, he is always there. I’d also like to credit one of my favorite books, “Tiny Beautiful Things” by Cheryl Strayed. The book has nothing to do with my line of work but is a major influence on how I show up in this world. The book reminds me that life is all about perspective and that is how you will manage.
