You know that feeling where you are so excited about getting up in the morning because you just can’t wait to get to work? Some folks will think that sentence is insane, but others know exactly what we’re talking about. We asked some of them to tell us why they love what they do so much.

There are so many reasons I love what I do! Every day I am grateful for the clients I work with. I love our relationship. I love that I get to help them build businesses. I love that I can help them understand their numbers in a way that makes sense to them. I love watching them grow and expand. I love that I am able to do what I love on my own terms. I make my own schedule, work from home and I can take off a random Tuesday when I have friends in town to hang out at the beach. Read more>>

Melissa Montoya | Lifestyle & Wedding Photographer

I love telling people’s story, visually. I love creating images that have an emotional impact. Photography is more than just pushing a button. Being able to tap in to people’s inner story and create a safe and comfortable environment for your subject to feel confident and trust you enough to bring it out of them is the art of photography. I call this the photo metamorphosis. I even give it a name, as some people do to their alter ego, when I am able to channel and harness the person’s true personality. This helps to propel it even more and they get fully into character. Read more>>

Chaz Cannon | Makeup Artist

I love what I do because it allows me to be present in someones moment. Whether I am glamming them up for something as special as their Wedding day, or as exciting as walking a Red Carpet event or even as simple as a date night or brunch with the girls. I get to be part of it. I love knowing I get to be part of the self esteem boost or the courage to take those selfies or even smile a little more because their confidence is a little higher than normal, The power of lashes and highlight can do that! Adam Block | Sound Designer & Audio Mixer

I love what I do because it’s really fun to creatively use sound to help tell stories. I work mostly on videogames, cartoons, and advertising campaigns, all of which bring their own technical and creative challenges to the table. For example, how much weight should a cartoon character’s slap have? Should it sound like it was mean? Painful? Silly? Funny? In games, how many electrical zappy elements are too many for a purple, magical beam that heals other characters? What does a magical healing purple beam sound like anyway? Read more>>

Devon DeMint | Writer & Surfer

I’ve always kind of said I have no other choice but to write because it’s sort of like a calling and sort of like a curse. I love observing people and nature, all the little details. I saw a bald lady parking her minivan by the oncology department at the doctor’s office, smoking a cigarette. How do you not write that down? People are fascinating and this world is so strange. I think even if I lived back in ancient Egyptian times I would be blowing off carrying heavy stones or fanning the pharaoh, hiding in some cave carving hieroglyphic stories into the walls. I have this compulsive need to document what happens while I’m alive, in my own way. Read more>>

Alexandra Leigh | Floral Designer

Floral Design is sculpture and each flower has its own mesmerizing color shape. Principles of design carry through all types of media, but for me floral design is the least stringent form, giving you more room for play. You can use different colors and flower varieties to carry the viewers eye through the composition creating rhythm like music. Theres so many dimensions when composing a flower arrangement that there are endless possibilities for placement. Each arrangement is always different, which keeps it exciting and new. I’m certainly someone that doesn’t like to stay stagnate so this is a great medium for me! Read more>>
