Our community is made up of brilliant artists, creatives and entrepreneurs, but many of them are also dedicated parents and so we asked them an in port at question: If you are a parent, what do you think is the most important thing you’ve done as a parent in terms of the impact on your children?

Spending time and staying engaged. While I am guilty of being distracted and looking at my phone I do my best to focus my attention on my daughter when I am around her. I am lucky to have a flexible schedule and plenty of time away from work to spend time with my daughter. We don’t watch TV instead we ride bikes, read books, play games, dance, do acrobatics etc. By doing activities together we talk constantly which both strengthens our relationship and gives me a chance to teach her the things I know. You can never know as a parent what “sticks” with any particular child given the myriad of life lessons and nuggets of wisdom and advice you might present to them. So I guess time will tell. You do your best and lead by example (most of the time, anyway) and be there for when they reach out to you. I’ve tried very hard to let me my kids know that they important and what they have to offer in life matters. I think having self confidnece and self worth are very important things to have. If my kids can grow up with those two things, I think they will be well equipped to accomplish anything that they set out to do. So my wife and I both try to acknowledge and encourage our childern in everything they do. I named my company, Vaxon Films, after my three children…Van, Pax and Lennon.
