We had the good fortune of connecting with Weston Gardner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Weston, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Music is such a powerful tool in storytelling. Not everyone has the financial or legal know how to properly utilize music in their videos, podcasts and other projects. I created Arcane Anthems in the hopes that I could provide music for creators in such a way that would be as easy as just crediting me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a musician and online creator in the table top gaming space. This means I make entertaining videos and engaging music to hopefully make people’s gaming experiences better. The most important thing to do when wanting to create something for others is to ask yourself “How can I use my talents to add value to my community?” My career combines my love for group storytelling, acting and music. Playing games and telling stories with my friends brings me joy and I’m so grateful to my community who also enjoy what I create.

While it’s not easy, the thing I love most about being a musician on social media is the constant learning and growing that is required of me. Nothing is scarier to me than becoming stagnant or stuck in my ways. It’s easy to feel like a failure while you are in a constant state of learning. Honestly, I’ve spent the majority of my life feeling like a failure. I often compare it to going to the gym. In order to get strong you need to do things that make you feel uncomfortable and weak. Failing is a fantastic way to know you are on the path to growth. That’s been a hard lesson to learn but I’m very grateful for it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Making hundreds of friends online provides me the opportunity to show many creators our lovely city. Balboa Park, Sunset Cliffs, Hiking in Torrey Pines and mission trails, Evenings at the boardwalk on Mission Beach. I also find time to take people to brunch at Morning Glory, tacos at Lucha Libre, burgers at Hodad’s, and dinner at Tajima Ramen. The breadth of delicious food and beautiful views we have here in San Diego is really unfair to everyone else. As a San Diego native it’s awesome showing people around!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I never felt like I had a mentor in my music career. I had many teachers and co conspirators but we were all just making it up as we went along. My wife Terena is my biggest supporter and inspires me to be better every day. Without her ideas, creativity and work ethic I would struggle to have anything of real value in my life.
