We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Zorn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success with my brand has been from the art community. Although I create resin art and silicone molds, I receive support from all sorts of other small businesses on social media including Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, etc. Without the art community sharing my posts and boosting my content on social media it would not have attracted as much attention as I’m seeing now. Branching out to meet artists in different mediums is extremely important and I don’t think I would have grown to be the small business I am today without them.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
During the pandemic I was supposed to start a new job and it unfortunately fell through and I wanted to do something that I truly enjoyed with my time aside from getting my Masters degree, so I turned to resin art. It was a amazing outlet to better my mental health in a creative way due to such high stressors from the pandemic. It was not easy at first, it takes a lot of time and practice to master this medium. I look back at my work sometimes and cannot believe how different my art is and how much I have grown as a artist. I would say to just keep trying, even if you think you should give up. For a while with social media I wasn’t gaining the traction I was hoping I would, but all it takes is one video, one photo even to grow your business and gain a whole group of new supporters. It took a while, but it paid off.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To start the trip I would take them to Old Town. Its truly a hidden gem that everyone needs to go see. They have incredible shops that I love to frequent Toby’s Candle shop and the local mineral shop there. Then we could go to my favorite restaurant in that area Fiesta Del Reyes, they have the best tamales and enchiladas I have ever had. Torrey Pines beach is another place I go to a lot. The beach is beautiful and you’ll likely see dolphins or seals off the coast line. There’s also a bunch of different hiking trails within the state park. There’s also a huge amount of local markets happening all the time, as well as numerous amounts of vending events. Some local breweries also host pop up events. Last month I was a vendor at Ale Smith Brewing Company along with 60+ other small businesses. You can find me there again on October 8th for another awesome event where I’ll be selling my artwork.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many people that I would shout out. My significant other has been my main support system throughout this journey since the beginning of my business. They have been so encouraging and have helped with my content whenever I have needed assistance. I also want to shoutout some of my favorite small businesses that deserve all the recognition in the world. You can find them all on Instagram: @withlovebyles, @craftsbyelocin, @artistrybyjess__, and @explicit.art_creations. They are a huge part of why my business has been able to thrive.
