We had the good fortune of connecting with Tricia Battani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tricia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I choose to take chances, because the doors that may open will allow more magic in than protecting myself ever will.  I had to learn to venture outside of my comfort zone, even if it meant falling flat on my face.  If it’s truly your destiny, I believe that if you make every effort you can, God will meet you halfway.

I started taking risks in elementary school when I asked my choir teacher if I could sing at the school assemblies.  It was a bold move on my part but a gamble that paid off.  I was soon performing for the school community often.  I learned early that being brave and putting forth great effort is the way to achieve what your heart yearns for.

As I moved into my teen years, I was given multiple opportunities to perform.  At 17, I heard on KIIS FM that they were auditioning hip hop dancers to perform at their local events.  I dropped everything, drove to Atomic Dance Factory, auditioned, and spent the next year performing at nightclubs and venues across Austin.  I was too young to officially be on the dance team, but they made an exception for me.  The risk I took paid off in more ways than one, and the experiences were life changing.

At 18, I moved to LA, with a packed car and $650.  I went to countless auditions where I’d totally embarrass myself from nerves and bomb it.  But I persevered, honed my craft, and my diligence paid off.  Eventually, I landed major televised gigs singing backup for celebrities.  All of my experiences in LA have culminated into the joy of performing and getting my own songs in TV and movies.

I ask the uncomfortable questions; if I feel led to do something, I do it.  I check my intentions to make sure I’m coming from a pure place and not from ego.  When you recognize your worth and what you can bring to the table, you won’t hesitate or second-guess reaching out.  I’m grateful to say I’ve arrived at that place.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work as a singer, recording artist, songwriter, vocal producer, and dancer.  My producer, PK, and I have a song “Yes or Yes” in the new Netflix movie, “Feel The Beat” which premiered June 19th.  We’re putting the finishing touches on country singer Cali Tucker’s album, and we’re scheduled to release a single on Fourth of July called “Blocked” by GEMMA!

My talented friends David Kater, Manny Streetz, and I wrote a song that will soon be in a TV movie as well – I just can’t share the title yet!  I’m releasing a few singles of my own this fall – one of which features a very special artist whom everyone will know.  It’s a secret! Stay tuned.
