We had the good fortune of connecting with The Natural Supernatural and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Natural, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Pursuing an artistic career became, at some point for all of us, more of a personal necessity than a choice. Music especially allows us to reach into a secret ineffable reality and give it form. It constantly gives us the chance to learn, communicate, and express ourselves. Getting to share the joy of music on a regular basis? The answer was inherent to the question. It’s the meaning to the best parts of life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We want our art to be both the manufactured Natural world, the wooden doll – and the Promethean Supernatural fire that gives it life. We want to live in that beautiful in-between where the toil of musical technique meets the childlike inspiration of creativity. Our music represents that alchemy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Grab a deep-dish pizza at Masa and catch a show at the Echo. Head to Salazar and grab some of the best tacos of your life, and then to Sunset Beer and create your own six-pack. For libations, wet your beak at Little Joy or Semi-Tropic where you’ll find some fanciful cocktails. Before COVID, you could always find us catching a show at venues around town. Of course, if you time it right, you could check out some of the best local venues during Echo Park Rising. Overall, what excites us most on a day-to-day basis is the community itself, which always encourages us to act supernatural.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are many people to list: Softer Sex Productions for booking our first show, Lunar Riptide for recommending us, Movie Club for playing our first show with us, Willem Wolfe for recording our first single, Harry Bridgen for taking a chance on a plucky young band, and all the indie venues in LA for keeping a thriving music scene alive.
