We had the good fortune of connecting with SXO Boutique and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SXO Boutique, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When opportunities present themselves you have to just go for it! And with that comes a risk; Risks that are full of unknowns, what’s-if’s, and even the possibility of failing. That’s the was risk we were willing to take. When you have a passion for something and are willing to work for it, we believe it is worth the risk of finding out the successes we can achieve. This leads us to our larger life and career goals.

As we decided to take a risk by purchasing an existing business, we  stepped into it with what we could rely on, our strengths. We were introduced as coworkers and over the years have built a bond both personally and professionally. Working along each other’s side was so natural and complimentary to our friendship. When the opportunity of purchasing this business presented itself, we both worked fiercely towards achieving what we wanted, to be business partners and own this fashion boutique. As first generation women, we value going after opportunities to create the life we always dreamed of.

What should our readers know about your business?
SXO Boutique is an online women’s clothing store dedicated to empowering women of all shapes & sizes. Our goal is to bring out their inner beauty, confidence & queen energy through fashion. We believe that when you look good on the outside, you feel good on the inside. We not only want to sell an item but create a community comprised of the women who shop with us.

One of the things that we’ve been enjoying the most is connecting with the community that already surrounded SXO Boutique when we stepped in. Acquiring a business brings its own sets of opportunities and challenges as well. The amount of support that we have been shown from those that were already lovers of our brand was really nice to see. It has also been a challenge since our audience sees us as an established business while we still very much feel like brand new business owners. It has pushed us to learn at a very rapid pace and although it has been fun and rewarding, it has also been a lot of hard work. We continuously learn from each experience that we are having and are quickly adapting as we go. We both are really passionate about getting to not only provide a product to women but also inspire them along the way – we use this passion to keep us going. As young entrepreneurs creating the life that we desire we hope to be an inspiration to other women who want to take perhaps a less traditional path.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The perfect week in San Diego would included lots of food, coffee, shopping & leisure time. Both of us really are coffee lovers at heart so we’d take then to one of our favorites like Cafe Cafeina & probably look for a new one to visit since we love discovering small coffee shops. We’d grab a bite to eat somewhere aesthetically pleasing with delicious food, including our favorites Cocina del Barrio in Hillcrest or Morning Glory in Little Italy. San Diego has tons of beautiful beaches so we’d take a day to visit the beach and lounge over a great conversation or perhaps take the ferry to Coronado. We love shopping which really makes owning a boutique very fitting and so much fun, so we’d definitely take some time to do some shopping around SD.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We are most thankful for the community of support that surrounds each of us! From our parents, life partners, mentors, friends, and family, we are so grateful for the role they play in being a part of shaping who we are today.

We are appreciative of Stephany Gomez, former SXO owner, for believing in us to grow this business to new levels! And also Reality Changers, a San Diego non profit organization, for being the community that brought us all together.

As besties in business, we also thank each other! It is our beautiful friendship that led to us growing as the business women we are today. We constantly motivate, support, and celebrate each other as we create our lives.
