Meet Rachel Frank | Laughter Yoga Instructor & Event Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Frank and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, what makes you happy? Why?
Making other people laugh makes me so happy! I also really love shocking people with absurd humor. A few of my favorite things to do are teach Laughter Yoga, dress up in costumes, crowdsurf in a Panda suit, dance wearing spaghetti, plan events that bring the community together, and just be silly. We are so lucky to be alive, and it’s important to enjoy life and not let other people’s opinions stop you from living a happy, fulfilling life. Helping people laugh and fully embrace their inner joy makes me the happiest.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Big Laugh Energy, is all about bringing people joy and laughter and play and helping others destress so they can live their happiest and most authentic lives. Children laugh 300-400 times a day; adults only laugh 13-15 times a day. Why did we stop playing? It’s so important to maintain a sense of joy and wonder in life, and that’s where Big Laugh Energy comes in. I lead teams through laughter and play modalities for team building, stress relief, and boosting creativity and joy. I’m proud of all the people I’ve made laugh and someone telling me he hadn’t laughed that hard since he was a child. I taught laughter yoga to a group of 400 teachers for their end of year training event which was a really special moment for me. Laughter has helped me overcome some of my darkess moments and I know the power of laughter has the ability to lighten the energy in any room and connect one another. I want people to know that they hold that power within themselves, and I’d love to help show them how to access their deepest levels of joy and happiness.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
San Diego is such a beautiful city, but some of my favorites would have to be The Template in Ocean Beach. They have the best coffee, and it’s this incredible quirky coffee shop with live music, art shows, and all kinds of funky events with the best art that truly supports the creative community. I would take them to Liberty Station, to walk around the former Naval Training Center and learn about its history, and then enjoy a delicious Italian meal at Solare or some delicious steak tacos at Grandson Steaks. Then I would take them to La Jolla to see the sea lions, stop by Trilogy for the best vegan tacos, and end the night with a dance class at Madhouse Dance or a cocktail at The Lafayette Hotel.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes! I’m dedicating my story to my dad. He is silly and makes me laugh.
