We had the good fortune of connecting with Sienna Verdult and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sienna, how do you think about risk?
Like it or not, risks are a part of life. Most of our decision-making involves asking ourselves how much risk we are comfortable with. That very question and answer are what risk mitigation is all about.
Risk-taking was a major factor in the early stages of starting my own company. Prior to opening Verdult Insurance, I had been working as a personal assistant in real estate. Stepping out on my own was initially an incredibly scary prospect. I spent a lot of hours ruminating over the decision and assessing the risks. The benefits far outweighed the fears and concerns I had.
Ultimately it has been extremely rewarding to be an entrepreneur. I have learned how to effectively navigate through risk mitigation and solve for my clients’ individual situations. Taking risks has allowed me to create the firm I envisioned. My company’s philosophy is to treat every client as valued and tailor bespoke insurance offerings that speak to not just their today but their tomorrows.
Insurance companies are in the business of risk. They consider many different factors to analyze the possibility of a future loss and charge a premium for assuming that risk. My job is to make sure that my clients get the best rates and greatest protection possible. With insurance premiums and zones fluctuating year by year, getting the right insurance can seem like a daunting task. My focus at Verdult Insurance is to simplify the process and work closely with multiple providers to get the best protection possible.
Insurance is not a one size fits all experience, and through hard work and transparency, we give our clients the best service available. Our wide-ranging insurance solutions provide our clients peace of mind to navigate through risk and achieve their financial goals.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Verdult Insurance is a full-service insurance agency. Meaning, we are able to cover all aspects of your life; auto, home, renter’s, life, umbrella, business and even farms. Not only does our quick response and top-tier customer service set us apart but we are able to grow with our client’s needs. This unique feature makes the insurance personable and approachable. One of our core values is to assist in goal setting and planning for one’s future. In a startup business you learn very quickly how to wear many different hats and every day is filled with new issues to tackle. The first year building my business felt like a constant learning curve. Those early months were where I was tested but also strengthened to see my resolve and desire to realize my goals. Although challenges are often seen as a roadblock they can also be used as a guardrail. If it wasn’t for the challenges of starting a business I wouldn’t have the tenacity and drive that I have today. My priority is to provide my clients with the best service and experience as possible.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being a big traveler I can confidently say that we are absolutely spoiled in San Diego. For the best waffles you must check out Atypical Waffle Company; their inventive mix of savory and sweet waffles will make you want to order one of each. The surrounding area is called North Park. They have great shops and bars –making it a fun place to explore. For a night out in the town, I recommend Little Italy. As an Italian, I can be a hard critic but not at Civico 1845. Owned by two Italian brothers their fresh food and romantic ambiance make it a must. Even as a local I still visit La Jolla shores. They are known for their beautiful homes, stunning beaches, and seals! Just past the La Jolla Shores is one of the most stunning ocean view hikes at Torrey Pines State Reserve. A great splurge would be Rancho Valencia spa–not feeling a massage? Their restaurant, The Pony Room, is a local favorite and will never disappoint. Their courtyard dining, live music, and fantastic food make it a regular mainstay for locals. Of course, a local favorite is to catch a baseball game at Padres stadium. Even if baseball isn’t your sport, the remodeled stadium is an amazing experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Mentorship has been a huge value to not only my business but my life. Without my incredible mentors teaching and supporting me I would not have had the tools or the confidence to step out and start my own business.
It doesn’t always take a village but rather people who will rally behind you and invest their time to help you realize your dreams. I am beyond grateful for the outpouring of love and mentorship for those who championed me along the way. I can’t quantify the value of someone believing in you and giving you encouragement to keep moving forward. I am blessed to be able to work with other local businesses. It is so fulfilling to have a community I can lean into and pay-it-forward as a mentor to others..
