Meet Shavaun Miller | Owner: Miller & Co. Baked Goods

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shavaun Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shavaun, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
I think that the most important decision that has contributed to the success of Miller & Co. Baked Goods was the choice to stop waiting for the “right time” and to start it now.

I’ve always loved baking; and since I was a kid, I’ve had this crazy, far-fetched dream of having my own bakery. But, life got in the way, and there was never a convenient time to pursue something like that. Then, 2020 happened and everything about life had turned upside down.

During all of the uncertainty, I realized life is always going to be unpredictable, and the “right time” may never come. So, I decided to go for it and make my dream of having a bakery my reality.

Full transparency: I am a big risk-taker; I always have been. But, something about putting yourself out there and starting a business (especially during such an uncertain climate) is terrifying! That being said, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

I am so thankful for the immense outpouring of support I’ve received throughout this venture.

What should our readers know about your business?
Hi there! My name is Shavaun Miller and I am the owner of Miller & Co. Bakery. Baking has always had a special place in my heart because so many of my favorite memories with my family are centered around it. I grew up baking with my Mom and Nana, and loved the way it always brought our family together. During the wild ride that was the year 2020, I realized that the world could use a little extra love. My remedy for that? Bringing my community delicious baked goods made with a whole lot of heart! And, that’s how Miller & Co. was born. What began as a long-time hobby and “quarantine passion-project”, has grown into so much more!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely not be in the position I am without the overwhelming support of my family and friends! They are incredible. Also, thanks to Bar Dahan for recommending me to Shoutout SoCal!
