We had the good fortune of connecting with Ismael Pohlert and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ismael, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The most important factor that has contributed to my success was deciding on re-framing my mindset to focus on helping other small businesses and emphasizing human connection. This mindset has helped me connect and establish a strong relationship with my clients that has resulted in longstanding business partnerships.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Inflow with my friend and they eventually left the partnership. I re-started Inflow in October of 2020 and since then, I have been able to return a profit in my second-year of business. The road was rocky and challenging learning so many things about website design, social media marketing, and more. I am still learning new things everyday so I can expand the growth of local businesses. One lesson I have learned is that spreading love and being genuine goes a long way. Connect with humans and be present.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Sunday- Brunch at Pacific Social ($10 Bottomless Mimosas), Walk through Balboa Park, Go to the beach Monday- KBBQ for Lunch at Handoo in Convoy, Grab some dessert from SomiSomi, Go to PB
Tuesday- Tacos at City Tacos, Ice Cream at the beach, Kate Sessions Park Picnic
Wednesday- Boss Bird Kitchen for a spicy chicken sandwich, Ballast Point for some beers,
Thursday- Go to Old Town to get Mexican food and visit the crystal shop, Visit the bay and walk around the city
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my parents for always supporting my ideas and being a source of free advertising of my services. I also would like to thank myself for continuing to work hard and help small businesses succeed. I almost let Inflow go, but decided to continue working at it and attain new clients.
