We had the good fortune of connecting with Seyshion Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Seyshion, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Start before you’re ready” is my favorite quote. I can’t recall exactly who said it, but I heard it at a time when I needed it most. It was a few months before opening our first brick-and-mortar, The Baby Trader – Resale Boutique; we were right in the thick of things, and I had started questioning every decision I made. I was at a point where I was becoming overwhelmed, scared, and maybe a little excited. It was a whirlwind of emotions. I believe I was watching a video on YouTube when I heard the words “Start before you’re ready,” and when I did, I nearly burst into tears. All the doubt I had felt in myself and my store at that moment slowly vanished. I took those words as a sign that I was on the right path because although I felt nowhere near ready to open, I understood if you have a business idea, talent, passion, dream, etc., regardless of where you start from, as long as you start, it can always grow and excel.

What should our readers know about your business?
Trading treasures, sharing joy. The Baby Trader is a family-run business that offers new and used quality baby items at affordable prices. We buy and sell clothing, gear, and toys. We are located at 4952 El Cajon Blvd, Unit 100, San Diego, CA, 92115. Our buying schedule is posted weekly via Instagram (@the_baby_trader) or Facebook (The Baby Trader—Resale Boutique) and can be found in stores and highlights along with our selling policy. The play area in our boutique is a parent’s and kid’s most adored feature, with a play kitchen, seating, and projector. Another unique feature is the mural wall outside our building, which can be used to take photos.
Perseverance and trust have made The Baby Trader what it is today and helped us overcome challenges. The quote I mentioned earlier, “Start before you’re ready’ is a lesson I have learned along the way. Always spread love and positivity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a big food and coffee person, so I would take them to visit the following:

There are many people I’d like to thank. Without these people, not only would I not be the person I am today, but I would be nowhere near as accomplished. I want to begin by thanking my parents. My mom, Ruth, is my everything. Without her, I don’t exist. To my dad, Ruben, and my stepmom, Arlene, thank you for all you have given me. The Baby Trader- Resale Boutique would not be. I can accomplish anything with your faith. Soshia, Selaye, Salihah, Carolyn, my sisters, you are also my everything; thank you for your constant support and creative input. To the love of my life, Brandon, thank you for all your support and for putting in long hours to help open the first brick-and-mortar.
