We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Geason II and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robert, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my brand is Versatility. Some people stress on niching down on one thing but instead, I’ve decided to niche down on a few different things that I’m good at. It works out in the long run because I have more to offer to my current and future clients. I believe that this has made my brand successful because it started to form my business into the powerhouse when it comes to being able to fulfill what people are looking for and giving them the best quality photography and videography. Versatility definitely is a key factor to my success and is constantly rewarding me for taking the time to build my brand out the way that I have. I’m Rob The Photographer but my brand shoots videos, and does digital marketing; I consider these categories as essential.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art keeps me alive. I feel like I’m always scouting for a new spot to shoot photos when I’m just in the car driving to the grocery store. I’m a photographer and videographer that displays captivating moments in life and I also capture business content so that my clients can effectively target their ideal customers. I feel like the way I think in terms of putting a project together sets me apart from others. It can be the way I shoot photos and videos to the way I use color and lighting to tell a story. It was quite a journey to get where I am now and it wasn’t easy. I started off filming weddings and church plays with my father when I was young and then ended up taking a photography class during my senior year of high school. Years later I ended up borrowing a friend’s camera and started messing around with it. I started out using household items and plants to practice on until I decided to start using my friends as test subjects. I was hooked from there and kept practicing and studying on youtube. I started getting customers here and there but I came to a point where I didn’t know what was next. Later I made connections with a professional photographer where I gained way more knowledge and was able to be an assistance on some shoots that were published in magazines. I was hooked. I kept learning and gained clients along with other skills to add to my business. There were challenges at times finding clients and I thought networking was the only was; that’s not the case. I’ve learned to never give up and to always be open to new opportunities. I want the world to know that my brand is versatile and dependable.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
La Jolla Cove is one of my favorite spots. You’d see Sea lions there. The ocean looks amazing and it’s definitely a great place to relax. Windansea Beach is another favorite. It’s my go to spot to relax.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my parents, close family and friends for pushing me to succeed. You guys know who you are!!! The ones that stuck through it all with me.
