We had the good fortune of connecting with Riston Diggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Riston, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Being consistent with my creative outlet. I’m always writing music and challenging myself to do so.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of the general progress I’ve made within my career, and despite some cool accomplishments here n’ there, my most proud moments are when I get to use my talents to enrich other people. I recently performed for an organization here in San Diego called Listen SD. They partnered up with an orphanage in Tijuana to raise money to buy bicycles for the kids out there for Christmas. Hope 4 Homeless is another charity event I’ve got to perform for that creates opportunities to give back to the less fortunate. Those opportunities are very fulfilling and exciting to be a part of. I got to where I am today by remaining focused on the small tasks that make a big difference. Nothing worthwhile is going to be easy, I learned that the hard way. I over come challenges with an intense level of consistency and persistence. I’ve learned to remain focus on the task at hand, small steps can lead to great destinations, apparently. I want the world to know that I have a new album playing on all music streaming platforms titled Riston Diggs: The Second Coming.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Nowhere right now, due to the restrictions and everywhere being closed. Maybe, grab some Jamaican or Thai to go. Stop by a dispensary to go shopping. Grab some fruits at the local grocers for some homemade smoothies. Find a court and play some hoops or go hiking on a trail or mountain. Catch a few local events, and then hangout at the studio. All that in no particular order.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother, her resilience throughout her battle with cancer twice is all the motivation I need to always carry on. I’d also like to acknowledge my daughters for their encouragement. They let me know they like my music, which is super cool. Last but not least my girl for her love and being right by my side throughout my journey. So pretty much the women in my life. Shout out to Evelyn Diggs, Cienna Diggs, Amiyah Diggs & Angel Slaughter.
