We had the good fortune of connecting with Rene Soto and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rene, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
One of my biggest dreams is that everyone has the oportunity to experience art in some form in a collective way not one artist at the top but many artists sharing with as many people possible. I hope, I wish and I asked to the universe to allow me to share light trough the healing process having art centers that offers free access to the arts for everyone but specially children so they never forget that they were born artist to be free and enjoy life, singing, dancing, painting and creating.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
my art work style is that I don’t have a particular style! my art is based in my everyday, how I feel, in what I got inspired, I paint for everyone. not all people love flowers or horses or abstract, so never have being easy for me makes everyone happy at the same time but I don’t want to paint flowers or horses all the time so that works for me too. My art is more for healing purposes and I think every painting or piece of art is already made for someone in the world we just need to find them and this make the art even more interesting the challenges we have to overcome everyday are many starting for the survival, connections, and when we understand our purpose in life the lessons that we learn also from others its an adventure as an artist we travel trough time and space. I want that the world know about my art is that every piece doesn’t matter the size or if it is an sculpture or a painting clothing or body painting my art is charged with beautyful energy that the purpose is healing trough the art process trough the colors and the intention of remaining you that you are energy too and we should evolve together to go to the next level in human evolution.
I have no particular standard style, but many styles depending on how I feel, and how I am inspired. I am trying to appeal to everyone, so my subjects vary (not everyone loves flowers or horses or abstract expressionism) and my styles change. I hope each work speaks to someone, somewhere, and heals their soul or inspires their purpose in life. My art includes many forms including painting, sculpting, fashion, and body painting, but whatever form I choose, no matter what the scale or size, I hope to create art that is charged with energy that can connect with the energy of the viewer.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well when we travels with friends most of the time we arrived at the evening. we will start with a formal dinner at the 4 floor apartment in front of the maritime aquarium in Norwalk CT it has a balcony where we can go out and enjoy the beautiful view of the river and also de sea contemplating a beautiful sunset with a glass of wine and with music of Sia in the background and moving art serie on Netflix especially flowers chapter, after that we will go to the stamford beach and we will have a fire pit where we will sing and dance and we will smoke some pot until we fall sleep under the moonlight. next day we will make tortillas and some eggs with mushrooms and vegetables and mimosas, we will go to hiking at saugatucks falls, we will dive jumping from the trees to the fresh waters. there is an art gallery and museum in ridgefield CT we will go and enjoy art and the Twon! Aji 10, casa villa, cantina mexicana or Maya restaurante, la calle arepas and mosaico are really good latinamerican food but if you want something with a view to the ocean harbor lights is a beautiful greek restaurant that we can enjoy too many options but always is good to have choices in case we want to do something different. also for dancing and signing there is a gay bar in Norwalk Trope 429 they have drag queen shows and karaoke also there is a latin place the palms in stamford where we can dance the whole night now in this times is good to please everyone.
For entertainment, they might try the amazing Norwalk Aquarium near Sono. The Norwalk Aquarium is one of the best in the U.S. and earlier this year they completed a new sea lion exhibit and a 4-D theatre experience. For nightlife, they can try the LGBTQ-friendly Troupe 429 bar for drinks and dancing. For good Latin cuisine, I recommend Aji10 Restaurant on Wall Street. Washington Street in the Sono district of Norwalk in filled with more than a dozen great places to eat, drink and have fun into the late hours. And Tacos El Azteca, a food truck at 94 Main Street in Norwalk was named this week by Yelp as one of the top 100 places in the United States to eat – amazing Food!!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Star (www.starct.org) Star is a tremendous nonprofit organization that works with adults with disabilities. I believe with my heart that they are amazing artists and they have the capacity to show us the world in a different way. I have being working with them for one year but I learned a lot from them not only as an artist but as a human being, I love how they can express themselves in a simple way, their kindness and honesty inspires me to continue expressing myself in a natural way. To be present, to say “thank you” more often, to say “I love you” or just to say “I don’t want to paint today but I will be enjoy observing and appreciate what the rest are doing” . And sometimes it’s even ok to say “I’m not ready”, or I don’t want to share, or ”I need help. ” Sometimes it takes patience (on both sides), but the rewards are unforgettable. To experience their joy of exploring and the tenderness in their hearts is a special privilege for me – and anything I give to them as their art teacher comes back to me ten-fold.
