We had the good fortune of connecting with Raquel Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raquel, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I live by the motto no risk no reward! I honestly believe in order to grow and get to new levels you have to be willing to take risk and get comfortable being uncomfortable. Its the only way to grow! Risk taking is how I became a boxer, i wanted to challenge myself to see how Id do in a real boxing match. It was scary yet empowering and it made me fall in love with the sport while changing my life for the better in so many ways.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a professional boxer, founder of athleisure stand out company PB Brand and Co Founder of Non Profit Organization Ladies In Power. Becoming a professional boxer has been one of the hardest yet most rewarding things I’ve done in my life. I’ve overcame a lot of the challenges I’ve faced by having a never give up attitude and adopting the mindset of “if I want it bad enough I’ll find a way, if not Ill find an excuse.” Starting my athletic clothing line PB Brand came easy for me as I’ve always been into clothing and fashion and felt what better way to express myself and what I stand for then creating a clothing line that embodies that. My non profit organization Ladies In Power is something that has always been near to my heart because I feel helping the youth and animals is a big part of my purpose in life. I felt the youth needed mentorship, support and guidance navigating adolescence to adulthood. The biggest lesson Ive learned on my journey is trust your intuition, believe in yourself and dont be afraid to take risk even if you’re the only one that sees your vision.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the easy going laid back vibe of San Diego and the weather is one of the most amazing things about living here. We’d check out my favorite beach Pacific Beach hit Belmont park to play games and ride roller-coasters, ride bikes on the boardwalk. Then finish with some authentic tacos we have a bunch of great taquerias here. Best brunch is Breakfast Republic, I love their veggie tostadas and jet skiing at sunset is a must do while here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I love the shoutout feature because it allows you to reflect and think of all the people that have helped you on your journey. I have to shoutout my coach, family, fans and the book The Alchemist! My coach Basheer Abdullah has been in my corner for over 8 years. He’s one of my biggest supporters constantly pushing me to elevate and grow. Whenever I’m uncertain or afraid he reminds me to take the risk and believe in myself. My family and fans are the best and their energy, love and support is unmatched. I feel without them I would not have gotten this far in my career. They keep me humble and hungry to accomplish more. I think everyone should read the alchemist book at least once it their life. It can provide so much clarity and motivation for you while on your journey to achieve your dreams and goals.
