We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachael Soares and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachael, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
We look at our employees like family and genuinely care about everyone’s success. Our employees are our greatest asset. This positive culture and appreciation for each other is definitely why we have been successful as a brand.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Creative Director. I used to be a flight attendant. One day I was out at Bingin in Bali thinking of a career change. As I paddled in I saw a photoshoot in progress with a girl directing the model, stylist, and photographer. As I daydreamed I thought about how I wanted my life to look – traveling to exotic destinations, not as a flight attendant, but as an owner of a company where I could direct a shoot. Maybe I would sell travel bags… I mean, I’m an expert at traveling and packing, who better than to start a travel bag company? There’s a lot of things that go into realizing your dream, but the first step is seeing it, and then having the confidence to take the first step.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout Heather Aiu, my business partner, who has taught me to push the limits on how big I can think, how big I can create, and on what is possible.
