We had the good fortune of connecting with Naudia Yvette Guerrero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Naudia Yvette, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business in 2020 to help international LGBTQ couples. I was dating someone at the time and being a queer international couple brought up many issues. We didn’t know where we could get married or how. We didn’t know where we could travel and feel safe. We started posting our story online and people resonated with that. I realized I could make a difference and have an impact on other LGBTQ people around the world. I realized I could provide the information I couldn’t find online. It was never meant to be a business but I’m grateful for where it led me.

Since then my business has transformed, it became about sharing luxury hotels and beautiful destinations where LGBTQ people could feel safe. My current girlfriend really helped me transform my business to what it is today and I’m proud of what we are building.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would describe my work as being an LGBTQ content creator and a luxury hotel photographer/videographer. What sets me apart is that I’m a queer Latina in a predominantly white and “straight” industry and I know I have to work twice as hard. It wasn’t easy to get to where I am and I definitely still have ups and downs. I started my business in 2020 to help other LGBTQ people be proud of who they are. I posted content with my ex-girlfriend and we went viral, but monetizing my business and turning it into what it is today took a lot of patience and hard work.

After my breakup, I felt I had lost everything because my content creation was with my ex. I almost quit creating content because I felt that the years of hard work I had put into my business was all for nothing. Everyone was interested in knowing why we had broken up and when I didn’t share enough about it, my engagement on Instagram went down and I thought there is no point to try and continue.

My current girlfriend actually encouraged me to continue, she reminded me that what I had built, I had done it alone and that I shouldn’t forget that. So, I decided to focus solely on luxury hotel photography and videography for a while. I had the help of my girlfriend which allowed me become more confident with the way I work with hotels. Slowly, I worked with over 40 hotels around Asia and I’m very proud of that. She became my videographer and also my business partner but she wasn’t in any of the content.

After months of wondering where I would pivot my content, I asked my girlfriend to create content with me. For me, LGBTQ representation is so important and we need more queer Latinx creators. I’ll be honest it wasn’t something either of us wanted. She had previously made content with her ex and we didn’t want to repeat past mistakes. But we both remembered something quite important: we both love traveling and we understand the hard work behind being business owners. Something our previous partners did not understand. We also have a mutual respect for one another and we truly work well together. Today, we continue to grow our Instagram and we are working with tourism boards to promote LGBTQ travel. It’s a dream to be paid to stay in beautiful hotels and to travel, but there are hours of hard work behind it. We spend more of our time editing, writing, brainstorming, filming and emailing than people realize. It’s definitely harder than it looks because we spend a lot of time creating the content for hotels and tourism boards.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a San Diego native, I actually did take my girlfriend to my favorite places. We went to Balboa Park, La Jolla, Downtown San Diego, Hillcrest, Old Town, Seaport Village, Carlsbad, and the many malls around.

I’m gluten free so my dining options are quite different, there is this place called El Tianguis Rolled Taquitos and I love their vegan rolled tacos. Also you have to go to True Food Kitchen and try the Horchata Matcha! It’s so good. I also recommend trying Mexican food around San Diego, its the best in the country. I loved carne asada fries before I became vegetarian but definitely try some if you’re not.

I’m someone who loves to watch musicals so I would recommend seeing whichever musical is in town. We watched the Mrs. Doubtfire musical and it was very funny.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My girlfriend Ivone is the photographer and videographer whenever I have to be the “model” in the content we create.

Ivone is more than just my photographer/videographer, she’s my support system. Whenever I have any doubts about my work, she’s always there to encourage me. I almost gave up but having her by my side made me stronger. I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for her.
