We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael LeClerc and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
Taking a chance on myself and leaving my hometown. Getting on the adventure bus and heading out in this World to see who you really are. Trying new things wasn’t necessarily difficult but challenging when you have only you to rely on.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I write songs about others more than myself. My lyrics, at least to me are deep and warm. I feel popular music today has lost itself in over production and less lyrical content. So I’m different in a way like the older famous artist that my music tells a message and is not filled with useless words that only promote selfishness, materialism and shutting your brain off from the World. If you want to heal through music you need to have a solid message and good lyrical content that touches people. I sound different of course but to stand out and say how I am different is tricky because we all want to be heard somehow as an artist. I think we all think we are uniquely different compared another artist. I started at fourteen playing guitar and was singing before that. It’s a calling. Music chose me and said this is who you are. Among some other things. There are everyday challenges presented to us all the time. I’m not sure I’ve succeeded the music business challenges but I have overcome other challenges by perseverance, staying the course and believing in yourself. Some lessons I’ve learn is to never give up and don’t worry about what someone else is doing. Do you and you will succeed! Everyone should know that I’m extremely deep and philosophical. So my music is always heartfelt and maybe it’s not for everyone but it will make you think if you take time and listen to the lyrics.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This question is hard to answer. I live in California but I’m from Canada and I’ve also lived in two other countries. I like the fact I’ve had some culture and diversity in my life. It’s made me more open minded and I see things differently than I did growing up my little Canadian town. So if my friends came to visit, I would take to the beaches in San Diego and maybe stop at some quaint little eatery. There are also many great hiking spots in Southern California. So there’s that option for adventure. Also many wineries where I’m at for another day adventure. They certainly would need a week or more to see the many great things here. I meet exciting people everyday. In my travels it was others like me who I connected with that weren’t afraid to take risk on themselves and sometimes that takes you to a foreign land or place.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well I like to give a shoutout to all who have supported me. To list names would take me awhile. I’m an avid reader and knowledge junkie. Besides being an artist, I’ve also studied Numerology for 15 years and provide readings for people. I mention this because it helped me find things out about myself and solidified some things I already knew. I’m a giver and don’t receive very well. So it helped realize that giving is great but don’t forget to take care of yourself. Numerology helped me connect with people and share their “Super Powers” is what I like to call the number profile for each person. It was a way besides music for me to give to the World and help others find themselves or maybe pose questions to help an individual think clearly, critically of themselves. Like music, it can touch a soul and get the heart and mind working as one for each everyone one of us. Meeting all these people through music and numerology is what heightens my vibration.
