We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Borman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business gives me the freedom to do many things! First, I get to work from home (a luxury that is more common now due to the pandemic) but in terms of a work-life balance, I love this layout. Second, I appreciate so much the ability to choose the people I work with. My team is amazing. Lastly, there is no limit to the amount of people I can work with, tasks I can take on and creativity our agency can produce!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets Locally Known apart is our incredible team of talented individuals. We are a team of five, each with a very unique skill set and role. Our look and feel is like no other agency’s. I am most proud of the clients we have worked with in the last two years. We started out with only one or two clients, and it just snowballed from there. Word of mouth is a beautiful thing in the marketing industry and I am so thankful for every single business owner I have had the pleasure of working with. My journey has not been easy. I moved to a very remote part of the country, forcing me (in the best way) to come up with my own business idea. It has take a lot of hard work, a lot of emailing, a lot of failure, and a lot of tireless days and tears. But every minute was worth it, and I still experience highs and lows with every week that passes. It’s all part of the experience! The biggest lesson I have learned along the way is that owning business requires three very important things. One, work every single day to be the absolute best communicator and never take any form of communication personally. Two, always, always follow up and follow through in order to ensure the best quality and delivery on projects. And three, always push the envelope. Whatever industry you are in, you must always be willing to try new things and get more creative than your competitor.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The first company I worked for in San Diego, Tubby Todd Bath Company, is where I got my start in the industry. I was a content manager there and I fell in love with the creative world of marketing. I still follow them very closely to this day and always give them a shoutout whenever I can!
