We had the good fortune of connecting with Marina Yanay-Triner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marina, what makes you happy? Why?
Growth! I used to prioritize “success” in the traditional sense of making lots of money and being well known in my niche. The problem with that was that I always had to chase it: one day I was on top of the world, the next day I was completely depressed and feeling unworthy. So I switched my mindset to really valuing growth. This means that sometimes, even when I technically don’t get my goal, if I feel like I received a lesson or it was a growth edge for me, it makes me happy! If I can sense that I responded to the same situation in a more powerful way than before, this is growth. This is such a powerful way to experience life, and it keeps me feeling incredibly fulfilled.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started out as a plant based health coach, and then realized that the most significant part of my work was the transformational aspect of my coaching. It was then that I made the scariest decision of my life: to invest over $30,000 in receiving support, education and networking via masterminds, coaching, and courses, all in one year. As a coach, I wanted to put my money where my mouth is, and invest in coaching for myself. I am so glad I did! It changed my entire life! I went from lacking confidence, not believing that I was worthy of success, to fully stepping into my power and truly falling in love with myself, my courage, and my resilience. That’s why self compassion is such a huge part of my work with my clients. Part of my own transformation is that I was sexually and emotionally abused in my very first romantic relationship, and this led me to see life from the eyes of a victim. Through my own transformational journey, and massive amounts of inner work, I learned to take full ownership of life, to get excited about creating the life I want, and to support others in discovering fulfillment and meaning in life! To do the things they always wanted, rather than the things they felt they “should” do. Life is truly magical when we shift our perspective in this way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take her on a long, beautiful hike to Palomar Mountain or San Bernardino National Forest. We would then take a dip in the ocean, at Marine Street beach in between the rocks. My favorite spots for food are Trilogy Sanctuary, The Village SD and Peace Pies, so would definitely take her there! And we would also visit Kate Sessions Park for a gorgeous view of the city.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many beautiful people have supported me in this journey! My coach and mentor, Alyssa Nobriga, has completely changed my life and I am so grateful to her. My partner, Tomer, has been nothing but supportive and my biggest cheerleader throughout the journey of the last 10 years. My closest friends, Alex Bauerova, Amira Massarwa, and Charlie DeBardi to name a few, have loved, supported and challenged me in every way, and my fellow coaches who I adore so much include Anette De La Rosa and Nora Dekeyser and so many other beautiful coaches that I feel so blessed to call my friends and supporters. Having this network means everything to me – it means feeling uplifted, challenges, and fulfilled.
