We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Eder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, what do you want your legacy to be?
We live in a “what’s in it for me?” culture. We want to know what we will get out of an transaction. How we can manipulate things to benefit us and to benefit our families. We want more, more, more. It’s a part of human nature to be self-serving. Even this question can point to this line of thinking. We want to leave a legacy. We want to be remembered. I work to actively combat that innate line of thinking…I think we all have to sometimes! While, sure it would be nice, I am less worried about people specifically remembering me or my name. I am more worried about people remembering how I made them feel. That I made each person I interacted with feel valued, appreciated, worthy. That I was true to myself, and by my genuineness, I allowed others to open up and show their authentic selves–flaws and all. That in some way I helped them to know and feel the truth that the we are all imperfect, each and every one of us, and that we are all wonderfully made. My wonderful husband and I are expecting our fourth son next month (we have 3 other amazing boys aged 5, 3, and 1). We received a prenatal diagnosis of Down Syndrome for our precious baby. Now more than ever, I believe we are all made worthy of ALL THE THINGS!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the proud owner and founder of My Pre-K Box! We are a ultimate subscription box for preschoolers, typically aged 3-5. We deliver the best preschool learning and fun around in our monthly thematic boxes! Each box is packed full of math, literacy, sensory, and craft activities centering around a fresh new theme. We are family owned and operated. Each of our boxes are carefully developed to target essential preschool skills to help each child become kindergarten ready! All of our boxes are teacher and mom-made, and kid approved! Our business is SO MUCH FUN. We get to bring such joy into the homes of each of our customers each month–making parents lives easier and enriching the lives of their sweet kids! We have a unique partnership with some local organizations providing work experiences to individuals with disabilities. This partnership has always been very special to us, but has become even more meaningful since the prenatal diagnosis of Down Syndrome for our fourth son. We are so proud of the individuals who do work for us–they do the best work for us! If you are a business owner, I would encourage you to reach out to local agencies to see about a partnership! When you ask about challenges-I think two major challenges for new business owners (especially those of us with no business background!). The first is the fear of failure. The second is the sense of overwhelm. Write a list, prioritize a few things, and just go through them one at a time. Everyone starts at ground zero. You make it to the top of the mountain one step at a time, with plenty of stumbles along the way. There are no shortcuts. Inch by inch. It takes grit, but you got it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Umm…can I be the best friend and you take ME around?! I’ve never been to SoCal and I need to know all the things!!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Heck yes to this question! I have been immensely blessed with THE BEST SUPPORT SYSTEM….like ever. I do not know what turn of events made me so lucky and blessed but I am eternally grateful to have the most amazing supports! I would be nowhere without them. I could go on and on about my friends and family and how much they have contributed to my success. But I would like to specifically SHOUTOUT to my #1. My UH-MAZING husband, Matt. Whew, I don’t always make it easy on you, but you always show up for me. You are my number one rock. You believe in me and encourage me in such a genuine way. I trust you so much that when you believe in me, I have no choice but to believe in myself! You pick up so much of my slack when I’m slammed with work. And seeing our kids with you brings me the greatest joy there ever was. You love them and they love you–and I love that! No kidding-every person needs a spouse as wonderful as mine.
