We had the good fortune of connecting with Lily Tran and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lily, what do you attribute your success to?
I wanted to take a moment to thank the Shoutout SoCal team forgiving me the opportunity to spotlight Slay Events! 🙂
The most important factor behind the success of Slay Events is my unwavering commitment to exceeding client expectations. From the initial consultation to the final execution, I prioritize delivering exceptional service and creating unforgettable experiences for my clients.
This commitment to excellence permeates every aspect of my business, from the meticulous attention to detail in event planning to the dedication to professionalism and integrity in all interactions. I listen attentively to my clients’ needs and vision, tailoring my services to reflect their unique style and preferences.
The strong relationships I’ve built with trusted vendors, partners, and collaborators have been pivotal in delivering seamless and memorable events. By fostering a supportive community of professionals who share our commitment to excellence, I am able to leverage collective expertise and resources to elevate the quality of our services.
Ultimately, my success is rooted in my passion for what I do and the relentless pursuit of perfection in every event I undertake. I measure my success not only by the satisfaction of my clients but also by the lasting memories I create and the positive impact I have on those I serve.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart is my relentless pursuit of perfection in every detail, my innovative approach to wedding planning, and my dedication to exceeding client expectations. I have always been taught to delivery quality over quantity which is something I value professionally and personally.
What excites me the most is the opportunity to bring my clients’ visions to life and to play a part in crafting moments that they will look back on from years on end. I thrive on the creative challenges that each wedding presents and are constantly pushing the boundaries to deliver unique and memorable experiences for my clients.
My journey to where I am today has been anything but easy. Like any business venture, I’ve faced a fair share of challenges along the way. From establishing credibility in a competitive wedding industry to navigating the complexities of managing finances and built a trust worthy preferred vendor list. However, I’ve learned the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and resilience in the face of adversity.
I want the world to know that I am more than just a wedding planner and coordinator; I am a dreamer, creator, and a storyteller who is committed to creating moments that will be remembered for a lifetime, and to leave a lasting impression on everyone I encounter.
Slay Events is built on a foundation of integrity, creativity, and excellence. I am driven by my passion for what I do and my commitment to delivering exceptional service.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Love this question! These are the best places I consider a weekend filled with delicious food, coffee and sun!
Saturday:
We’ll start the day with a delicious cup of coffee at La Colombe in University Town Center, La Jolla and walk over to Marugame for some udon . We’ll then explore the iconic La Jolla Beach and sunbath (I always pack a beach towel and book with me at all times!). We’ll head to The Taco Stand and grab some tacos and horchata for lunch. Lastly, we’ll go to Sunset Cliffs to watch the sunset and head over to Golden Hills, at Kingfisher for authentic Vietnamese French influence cuisine.
Sunday:
Nothing feels better than sleeping in on a Sunday! We’ll drive over to Azucar in Ocean Beach for coffee and pastries and then explore the vibrant neighborhoods of North Park and South Park, known for their eclectic shops and art galleries. We’ll grab a bite to eat at Hawaiian Fresh Seafood and head over to Flour Atelier in Kearny Mesa to get a box of their signature puff pastries and matcha lattes (a must have!). Finally, we’ll have a girls night watching The Eras Tour and a delicious plate of home made pasta and wine!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of those who have believed in me from the outset: my amazing husband, Brian, who has always encouraged me to take the leap into business ownership and aim for the stars; Joy Portinga, the owner of Joy Portinga Photography, who has consistently push boundaries and get me out of my comfort zone with many aspects of wedding planning; Laura, the owner of Alma Weddings Photography, a steadfast supporter through thick and thin; Jackie, the founder of Jacquelynn Jean Weddings, who has continued to show unwavering trust, both in the wedding industry and as a friend; Wen, my exceptional wedding assistant, teaching me the importance of trust and collaboration in building a successful business; and last but certainly not least, my dear friend Olivia, the owner of Bliss and Bridal, whose connection led me to being featured in Shout Out SoCal, providing me with a platform to showcase my work.
I want to recognize Ana, the Founder of Luna Petals Co., for not only introducing me to my very first client but also for entrusting me with this opportunity by referring me. Meeting Ana was a pivotal moment for me, as it marked the beginning of my journey in the event planning industry. Since that initial introduction, I’ve been inspired to pay forward the kindness by supporting businesses that is starting out and stepping into the wedding industry. I’m passionate about providing emerging talents with opportunities to showcase their work. Ana’s act of generosity ignited a desire within me to foster a community of support and collaboration among industry peers.
Furthermore, I’d like to extend my appreciation to Krista Burroughs, the Founder of Paper Jewels Events. Krista has been more than a mentor to me; she’s also become a close friend and role model. Through her extensive experience and invaluable insights, Krista has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of the wedding industry. Her guidance and wisdom have helped me navigate challenges and make informed decisions as I continue to grow my business. I’m immensely grateful for Krista’s mentorship and friendship, and I cherish the opportunity to learn from her expertise.
All these individuals in my life have unequivocally shown me the strength of my community in this industry, and I will always cherish that. Thank you!
