Meet Bree Kish | Plus size model, Content Creator, Small business owner, Dog mom

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bree Kish and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bree, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve been a plus size model for ten years and although it’s an incredible job that I wouldn’t change for the world, it ultimately consists of bringing someone else’s vision to life. I’ve always been a more creative person that loves clothing, design, and having fun with style so I wanted to finally build something of my own.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Everything that I am and known for is thanks to growing up in a larger body. I started plus size modeling immediately after I graduated high school in 2014 which then turned into a side hustle of content creation and ultimately led me to creating Toby & Linus – a size inclusive matching clothing brand for dogs and humans. When I started modeling, the pool for plus size models was small so in all honestly, the journey to success wasn’t difficult. The success of modeling ultimately led me to garner an online following, however I began to share the colorful and eclectic sides of me that you don’t get to see while purchasing a shirt from Torrid. The journey of creating Toby & Linus has been the hardest so far but definitely the most rewarding. I personally design each piece, I’m completely funding it myself, I produce, cast, and style each photoshoot, I run each social media account. It’s a lot of work but worth every second to see my own personal vision brought to life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles is my home which is a dream travel destination for a lot of people! I live near Universal Studios Hollywood so we are absolutely spending a day there enjoying Butterbeer, meeting dinosaurs and riding the Studio Tour. Some of my personal favorite places to eat are Olive & Thyme, Smokehouse, and Din Tai Fung. Since LA is pretty much always sunny, we’re absolutely getting sandwiches from Roma Deli and eating them at a park near Walt Disney Studios. I love anything relating to movies so I would also take a visitor to do a tour at Warner Bros Studios and watch a movie put on by Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My incredible partner of nearly 5 years deserves a shoutout. I could sing his praises all day long. When I brought the idea for Toby & Linus to him, he created a powerpoint presentation within 10 minutes to showcase how we could achieve creating this brand. He’s so supportive of me and any whacky idea I have! He has been at my side this entire ride.
