We had the good fortune of connecting with Kerrie Fitzgerald and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kerrie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
IMPACT. I wanted to make an impact and help female entrepreneurs create & scale their dream product-based business. When I started my first product business back in 2016, I didn’t have coaches, courses or any support to help me. I had to figure it all out on my own and it was hard as hell. Once I sold that business in 2019, I knew I wanted to take the overwhelm, confusion and frustration from others as they were navigating how to grow their product-based brand.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the founder of Marketing By Kerrie LLC- an ecommerce and product business consulting & educational agency, and host of top 100 marketing podcast- The 6 Figure Product Business Podcast. As a digital marketing ninja, I help e-commerce businesses create “wildly in demand” brands that their customers are obsessed with. My unique framework stems in organic marketing that brings in consistent sales and traffic without focusing a dime on ads.

After starting my first high-end pet e-commerce business, The Dapper Dog Box in 2016, I grew the business to multi 6 figures of revenue in two & a half years without funding, staff or support and successfully sold the business in 2019. This was my launchpad to where I am today. Growing my first business was a struggle and wasn’t easy but I kept going, made mistakes, grew as a person and entrepreneur. I like to call those 3 years my product business MBA plus 5 years work experience, all rolled into one. Incredible experience that I learned so much from and my next product-based business will be so much better because of my first experience. The biggest advice I can share with anyone is always find a mentor who can show you the roadmap. With coaches, courses mentors out there today there is literally zero reason that you need to “figure it all out on your own.” I didnt have any of this for my first business and it was my biggest mistake. My second tip is always have a support system of fellow entrepreneurs. Your friends and family will never understand what its like to have a business and you need people you can vent to, but also get great advice from!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I lived in San Diego for two years in my mid-twenties. It was the absolute time of my life and I miss it everyday. PB & OB are the best! I mean if you are coming to SD you have to go to the beach.

Fig Tree Cafe in PB
Waterbar in PB for brunch & drinks
Crushed- incredible food in PB

One of my absolute favorite things to do is the bay to beach walk. Start at Mission Bay and walk all the way down to the beach. Its a stunning walk, so peaceful and so much fun.

La Jolla is also a must have, you can go and see gorgeous homes and seals at La Jolla cove.

Sunset Cliffs in Point Loma is just stunning.

And if you like dive bars- Pacific Shores in Ocean Beach is a must have!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people I can give shoutouts to but I would love to just thank my clients, students in my programs and members inside my ecommerce membership, – The Ecommerce Society. They have taught ME so much and have helped me grow as a human, entrepreneur, coach and educator.

As far as books, Chill & Prosper by Denise Duffield-Thomas is my new bible and she is just incredible.
