We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny Jantzen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenny, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I have always went with my gut and intuition with this; and it has yet to fail me! When I start getting bored or stagnant with my current situation I know it’s time to push for something that will challenge me again. I also wouldn’t use the word “quit” I would say on to the “next” chapter!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It’s very important to me to continue educating myself on the newest trends. As a stylist, the second you think you’re done learning is the day fail. I’ve always been a “go getter” not to say getting here was easy peasy but I didn’t struggle with motivation or ideas to get there. You just have to trust the process and follow your gut! Starting at the bottom and working up is essential I believe. You learn the building blocks down there that are essential for being successful on your way up the latter! I started my official salon and name after my dad had passed away July 2018. Me being his only child and his side of the family being so small; I am the last living Jantzen! I want to do something with his name and keep him alive through it!

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Oh goodness, well me living here only three years, I do still have a lot of favorite places! One of the days I would do the whole Mount Soledad, Cabrillo National Monument and USS midway museum. All such great history and amazing views of the county! A MUST eat stop is Hodads (preferably the one in OB) while we’re in the area catch the sunset at sunset cliffs national park! Hitting up Gaslamp is always a good a time and of course the PB board walk!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I of course want to thank my clients who made this dream of mine at all possible, with out them I wouldn’t be where I am! I would also like to thank my mother. She’s always been such a hard worker. She has worked more hours in a week then i even knew a week had! She has shown me what hard work is and to always keep going with a positive attitude.
