We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff and Danielle King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeff and Danielle, what is the most important factor behind your success?
One of the most important components of this business is honesty! As a general contractor the money is there and the people are vulnerable. Therefore, its my responsibility to not take advantage of them in a moment of vulnerability. For instance, often they have a leak, or mold or just want to be able to call their house a home by their design. If you believe home is where the heart is you want to protect it and make sure who you allow inside is reputable and mean you well. One of our most prevalent mottos, “Kingstruction, on time and on budget”…
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets us apart from other general contractor companies is our heart to help others. We desire to really help our home owners. But it is two pronged our numbers are facts and they speak volumes. We don’t over charge our clients, we do our very best to stay away from change orders, we are well known in North County for being honest, on time and on budget. We’ve been able to build our business so fast and so successful due to having a solid foundation. Funny, we say fast but it was actually slow and consistent. But we like to say that slow is smooth and smooth is fast. We’ve learned to see challenges as how can I’s versus how can I not. Everything is figureout-able and to be an entrepreneur you must be a solution seeker in every instance. Honestly, if it was too easy would it keep our attention? Jeff started this company at one of his darkest moments, he was literally losing his eye sight. He knew that it was more out there for him post military. He often says that when he began to lose his site he began to gain his vision. As his wife was just there at the time to support that vision! When a business is built by a family with a vision anything is possible.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our favorite spots in this fine city include the beach more specifically Solana Beach’s Fletcher Cove. It’s not only gorgeous full of friendly people, but also quaint and last but not least plenty of free parking! We’d also swing by the cornucopia of restaurants in Del Mar one of our Pacifica, the food is good, the drinks are great and the staff remembers your name! The San Diego Zoo never disappoints for the old and young alike! Now if you want to do some amazing people watching I’d be sure to swing by Ocean Beach and Carlsbad Beach on Sundays both are loaded with talented people sharing their gifts!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We have had so much support over the course of our journey. Aside from family one of our biggest assets is our military foundation. It alluded to discipline and just old fashioned getting the job done, keeping our eyes on the mission and protecting your own. We’ve also had a lot of help from the SBA located in Carlsbad walking us through certifications and being a start up business, we highly recommend them and allowing yourself to get back to the basics when building the foundation of your business. We are huge proponents of a most Napoleon Hill books, “How to win friends and Influence People authored by Dale Carnegie and so many others.
