Meet Jeannine Martyanik | Bodyrok Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeannine Martyanik and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeannine, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from a small town outside of Raleigh, NC and, while a bustling city now, growing up it was very much a smaller town with big plans to grow. Because not much entertainment was available at the time, you really had to build connections with those around you in order to create your own fun and experiences. It’s the case of “it’s not where you are, but who you’re with.” Sure, we didn’t have much going on around us at the time, but I believe that worked to our advantage as it forced us to focus on our relationships, truly connect, and get creative together when it came time to seek out adventure. This concept has stayed with me and impacted who I am today as I continue to build relationships in my adult life. We live in a time when we’re constantly wanting to experience the next best thing, gather over brunch, create instagram stories over having a conversation, etc. But if you stop to take a second to look at the people around you- who you invest your time in and who you build partnerships with- they not only should be enough, but they should also be a strong support system for you as you continue to grow. So in short: keep it simple, invest your time in people who invest their time in you, and take time to be thankful for the community you have around you without all of the distractions.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been teaching fitness for nine years now and have had the pleasure of connecting with individuals all across the nation over the love of movement. I’m most proud of my adaptability and I am always yearning to learn more to perfect my craft. Through the support of great mentors and teammates, I have been able to stay inspired and continue to grow within the concept. With growth comes discomfort, but during those times, I just remind myself that being uncomfortable is a good thing and allows you to level up to the next opportunity. At the end of the day, my job is to inspire others to be the strongest, most confident version of themselves. My hope is that each client that takes my class leaves feeling like the best version of themselves and ready to take on the day.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So many to choose from! I love a sunset at the Cliffs, a little Pizza Port, and a walk through Balboa. Oh, and of course we have to take a Bodyrok class.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to Rachel Racz. Shortly after moving to San Diego, Rachel took me under her wing at The Studio and empowered me to make my own class formats, learn new concepts, and be confident in my own brand. She is both an incredible leader and mentor and I am very thankful she’s here in San Diego.
