We had the good fortune of connecting with Imani Wade and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Imani, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’ve always been a risk taker, yet for years I took impulsive and nearly stupid risks. This led me to making bad decisions, and overtime it was difficult for me to trust myself. Yet over the last 3 years of my life, I’ve been learning how to trust my gut, and I lean into my faith. I know that if something keeps popping up in my mind, then it is worth pursuing. I also have this fear of waking up one day thinking “what if I would’ve just done ___”.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from others, is that I don’t put myself in a box. I know that I am multifaceted & multipassionate, and I’m not afraid to pursue each passion. With that being said, I also know the importance of mapping things out and being strategic on the timing on WHEN to pursue each passion. It doesn’t make sense to do everything at once, and I’ve had to learn that the hard way. I’d like for everyone to know that if a woman with a broken past, raised by a single mom that grew up in a poor home can make something out of her life, so can you. I am pretty open in my book, ‘Breaking up with the Bad Girl’, but often times people think that someone got to where they are overnight or that it was handed down to them. You can literally do anything that you want in your life and achieve your dreams. I’m here to inspire you along the way!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well so I’m actually new to San Diego! But so far I’d like to say that I’d have to take them to Little Italy because it is just so charming! Liberty Station for lunch and plant shopping, La Jolla to visualize our future selves in our dream mansions, Mission Beach for a fun time & then a night out in downtown.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Love this! I’m always encouraging people to read ‘Everything is Figureoutable’, and ‘Atomic Habits’. I’d like to also shoutout my best friend, Stasi! She SEES me and fully understands my heart! She is also just such a safe person to be around and incredibly important to my life.
